One of America’s dying traditions, or so it seems to be dying, is visiting our backyards: National Parks. I’ll get into that subject later but for now I wanted to share these amazing art pieces created by an aritst who goes by the name of Ranger Doug.
The history behind these posters is quite a story. You can read about why the WPA created these posters in the first place here. Here’s a little excerpt from his website:
Between 1935 and 1943 the WPA’s Federal Art Project printed over two million posters in 35,000 different designs to stir the public’s imagination for education, theater, health, safety, and travel. Due to their fragile nature only two thousand posters have survived to this day; less than one tenth of one percent!
Ranger Doug’s Enterprises is the only source for faithful reproductions of WPA National Park serigraphed posters. Originally produced between 1938 and 1941, these sixteen stunning historical posters have been painstakingly restored, one screen at a time and are now offered as silkscreened prints.
I’ve managed to collect nearly all of these stunning prints in postcard form. As some of you know, I’m an avid National Park traveler. Not only for what each park’s beauty has to offer but each park has its own fascinating history behind it that I love learning about. One of my favorite parks has to be Glacier National Park in northern Montana. I’ve never felt so small and insignificant in this universe before when I was there. Absolutely breathtaking. What are some of your favorite National Parks or National Monuments here in America?

Yoshi Sodeoka is the man behind the latest video Elephant from Tame Impala. WHat you should know is that the man has been making analog synthesized videos since 2005 along with DVD, prints and also audio pieces. My favorite video has to be Violet Dark Spring of the Numinous Orb(poster and video above), its a little more my speed.
Twitter just rolled out a new profile design that allows you to add your own header banner. Pretty cool, but it’s hard to tell what looks best without fidgeting with it, then waiting. To make it easier on you, I’ve updated my Twitter PSD Photoshop template to the new design.
The profile images in the template utilize smart objects to make it easier to update all of the images in the template at once. The name/username’s in the tweets also utilize smart objects. Double-click to edit, then edit the contents and it will update all of the smart objects synced with it.
This template was built closely to Twitter’s current layout as of September 20th, 2012. Download the template below. Please share the PSD if you find it useful. If you have any questions or suggestions leave a comment.
**log in denied** Does anyone even remember their myspace password? I don’t. I mean look the new Myspace, yeah its visually appealing, it will probably run smoother than any social site out there, and it does everything I need it to if I want music. My first 2 issues that come to mind: sifting thru the content/mass spam from the past to prep it to make my site look as good as Justin Timberlake’s. Second, being a musician and having to care for another site, at this point maybe if they paid me $5 a week i’d consider it.
Honestly, good for them but I see this being kind of a Zune thing, it just came too late in the game, most of us that have a life on the internet are just to settled in with our Rdios, Facebooks, Tumblrs, and Twitters.
I’ve been waiting for a long time for this show and it’s finally here. Wedsnesday will be the first Tycho show in Boulder, CO and we’re all really excited. So excited that I created a poster specifically for the show. This also marks the first time I’ve designed a print from start to finish on the road (been out here for a few weeks now). The show will be with The Album Leaf at The Fox Theater this Wednesday, September 26th, 2012. Details and tickets here, hope to see you out!
We’re in the home stretch of our Fall Tour with only a handful of dates left. This will likely be the last full Tycho tour for a while as I plan to head back to the studio to work on new material. Thanks to everyone who’s made this past year so special, we’ve had an incredible time travelling around seeing so many wonderful people and places. Hope to see you all again soon!
Probably one of the best backyard entrance to a home that i’ve seen in years, I love the open space of the top floor, i’d probably put a few Eero Aarnio Pastel chairs out there.
To play the media you will need to either update your browser to a recent version or update your Flash plugin.
Its been years and he was still able to sell out crowds all across the world, Nosaj Thing has a new album and here’s our first taste featuring a delicate and haunting appearance from Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead.
Trust has a new EP coming to us, its the perfect marriage of true 80s goth dance music and melody, I don’t think i’ve ever taken it off any playlist since i’ve heard him.
What genuine collection of tracks by the Brooklyn duo Black Marble, if you want something darker than the DIIV LP and a hint of gloom then these guys are for you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
It’s always a surprise when a band signs to 4AD, I think of them as this unreachable label that signs Deerhunter sized acts but they take risks like every other label and 9 out of 10 times they make some of the best decisions. Inc is on that R&B tip its not that tragically smooth stuff, it has that crispness to it, definitely want to see more, maybe they’ll tour with Beacon, that’d be soo much ambient driven R&B, i’d probably need a couch.
