Tom Croose and Slow Hands make up Worst Friends, both of them have contributed amazing exclusive work for the ISO50 with playlists, mixes, remixes, edits, and covers of artists like Van Morrison, Beirut, Fleetwood Mac and M83. Both of them are great guys, they were my DJ partners when I moved to Brooklyn and now release on Future Classics and Wolf+Lamb and also “Tom” is getting married this summer, congrats guys on this 12″ release.
A new Sun Kil Moon album is out and i’m loving it all the way thru, check out the Mark Kozelek playlist I put together awhile back.
This weekend I watched a Thavius Beck ableton sort of lecture on how he uses his Beat Repeat, it was pretty enjoyavble so I went back to find a track for the blog and found this gem, is this an Outkast song? I don’t know enough about Outkast sadly.
The Books have a new album coming out, i’m huge fan, the guys in that group definitely have influenced many musicians I know, this new one sounds like if you made Lemon Jelly and DJ Shadow work together 8 years ago, which to me is a great thing.
One of my favorite Books songs is this Enjoy Your Worries, You May Never Have Them Again, just the pure musical freedom they show off and it working out is inspiring. I might have to go out on a limb and say its the best quality sound with random field recording sampling laid out into an actual song we’ll ever hear maybe.
Kate Simko did a beautiful soundtrack for a science documentary called The Atom Smashers, The Creative Part is a favorite of mine, reminds me of what I love about Philip Glass.
Kyle Bobby Dunn is better known for his piano material, he has this beautiful drone EP called Fervency that is out now, some real gorgeous earthy tones that sweep me up, with the song clocking in over 14+ minutes you’ll be sure to fall in and out of this slightly hypnotic piece.
In my opinion Loscil is legendary for his sound that he has worked on over the years, the only way I could ever replicate is if I dove into a 20 foot deep tub of honey and sat at the bottom and had long bass tones aimed towards me from every angle while I sat and held my breathe. Listen to those slight echoes on the clicks! its like getting lost in playing with your fingers when they’re covered in pine sap and you think you can feel every fingerprint unsticking from the other.

Lusine does it again with a gorgeous ambient album called Language Barrier, I don’t know how he does it but he cuts up the lyrics and they still sound like honey being poured onto baby oil, makes me want to bash any music I make out the window using that cricket bat from Spinal Tap.
Modeselektor + Apparat = Moderat, I wasn’t a big fan of Modeselektor besides one song that i’ll post next time but i’ll buy anything that has Apparat on it. This pairs up nicely with the Telefon Tel Aviv album, I really need to sit with this record again because only a few tracks grabbed me. A New Error has that colossal analog drive to it that is always nice to lose yourself in for a few miniutes.
I was doing my best to steer clear of this Dark Was The Night compilation just because I felt like everyone already had it and no one needed to read about it but here it is The Books feat. Jose Gonzalez covering Nick Drake and all its glory, all joking aside this is an amazing cover and love both the musicians doing the cover.
DJ Koze just put out a CD that compiles all the remixes he did over the years, I especially love this Heiko Voss one and the Matthew Dear one is pretty outstanding as well.
