Logo Design Master Class With Will.i.am

Posted by Scott

why

I dare you to watch this all the way through; I still haven’t made it. Is this a joke? If so, who’s in on it? I have to imagine that someone at WSJ, at some point between filming and uploading the video to Youtube, realized this man was completely insane but just decided to roll with it. Either that or Will.i.am has an incredible sense of humor and this is just the first in a series of hilarious lectures where he just fires off random thoughts from the top of his head about various topics ranging from foreign policy to automotive design.

Who thought it would be a good idea to interview Will.i.am about logo design in the first place? What was that whole thing about India? So many questions…

To make it easier on you I’ve distilled the wisdom of this video down to some key concepts you need to be familiar with when developing a logo: “The New World”, “What India is going to do to the world”, “English, but with a different alphabet”, “Problems”, “Don’t use the word brand”, “New types of fonts”.

Best of luck.

I must say I had a good laugh. They should definitely legalize what he has been smoking. Life would be so much funnier.

I refuse to hit play. SMDH. This is akin to when he was hired as a Director Of Creative Innovation @ INTEL right?? Like you said – this may be looked @ as the greatest comedy skit ever… but I still can’t hit play. LOL.

Dude, there is nothing new about the Chinese characters that have been used for thousands of years. Its just new to you. But yeah there will always be a market here for historical global concepts abroad because we live in a bubble called USA; entertaining to listen to though..

That is frightening on a level that I can’t comprehend… somehow I did make it through the whole thing. But as I told my studio mates- I think I wet myself and I had a blackout for a second or two trying to figure out what he meant.

And now I am craving curry. Odd.

My programmer is trying to convince me to move to .net from PHP.
I have always disliked the idea because of the costs.

But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on a number of websites for about a
year and am anxious about switching to another platform.

I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net.
Is there a way I can import all my wordpress content into
it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is hilarious.

“If your logo collapses when you blow it up, then there is a problem.”

I think the WSJ editor tore a new one laughing after they posted this.

My worst fear is that is isn’t a joke at all. Will I Am makes my brain hurt every time I hear him speak. WSJ probably had an obligation to post it, and hopefully they’re laughing along with us.

Have you seen Richard Branson’s?

“If you start a business from scratch you can see whether it’s working or not and if it’s not you can move on to another business…”

I’m assuming that’s true if you have the billions of dollars behind you that Richard Branson and Virgin have behind their ‘startups from scratch’ because otherwise, you’ve invested everything you have in a startup.

Actually he’s right about the logo design, it should work black and white, it should work large, small, and cropped…look at coke for an example.

The India stuff is anyones guess though.

I was a little heartbroken when I found out my friend thought this was a good interview. I died laughing during this video.

I think I have seen someone like this who is tripping. It’s not the visual part but it’s when your mind is racing and you can finish a thought clearly but your thinking about so many different things at once and how you think they correlate with one another. Another observation and might be evidence to the tripping theory is the fact he cant sit still or keep looking at the camera like he feels like he should be looking at the person who asked the question. Only a theory.

Hi there would you mind letting me know which hosting company you’re
utilizing? I’ve loaded your blog in 3 different web browsers
and I must say this blog loads a lot faster then
most. Can you suggest a good internet hosting provider at a reasonable price?
Kudos, I appreciate it!
