Gallo+Stars+ActiveChild+VirginiaSummers

Posted by Jakub

One of the nicest vinyl i’ve ever held in my hand that I can remember was Vincent Gallo’s When, just a really proper piece that spewed out care. When it gets too hot this summer slow down and throw on this song, its pretty special and the heat and sound go hand in hand.

Stars are back and this track has a lot of life, it touches on some elements that people might like if your a M83 or Jonsi fan because of the anxiety it builds but releases gently.

One artist i’m looking forward to seeing live this summer is Active Child, he has a impressive voice with a unique delivery with lyrics. The electronics seem to be all over yet focused on melody and supporting his singing style.

I feel like there will be a good amount of music like The Late Virginia Summers in the future coming from 16-18 year olds, I hear a ton of good demos like this. That mixture of post rock and upfront electronics delivered in a somber way, I feel like this movement is something The Album Leaf created.

Vincent Gallo is a bigot, and an anti-semite, as well as a talentless, egotistical charlatan.

the start of that active child song sounds so much like owl city, but the good vocals make up for it.

LOL @ keith – that seems to be the invariable reaction to vincent.
you can’t deny when is a nice record though.

@ brian – good e-find!

i have a feeling vincent probably has quite a few gems locked away.

lol NICE.
but Keith!? Have you listened to When? It’s seriously one of the most played chillout albums I’ve ever owned. Just buy it and pretend it’s by someone called Gincent Vallo.

It’s funny; it’s winter here, and this music, obviously picked for summer, still sounds really natural and appropriate; makes me wonder how it doesn’t sound incongruous in the NH.

The mellotron in Gallos songs are ace, and I find joy in thinking it is maybe the same mellotron John Frusciante uses. But its probably not.

Vincent Gallo’s racism and anti-semitism is, I believe, an act. He’s exactly everything that IS controversial, that it cannot be a coincidence. It keeps him interesting.

Fine post! Always loved that Gallo disc. I am usually underwhelmed by Stars, but that track is nice. I checked out the Active child record and found “when your love is safe” the only song that I dig. Keep up the good work Jakub!

The Late Virginia Summer’s guitar line is a direct rip from Explosions in the Sky. Well at least it sounds that way.

I like Vincent Gallo since that film, Buffalo 66, that vintage, romantic, kind of outsider stile, he dont care what they say about him, thats cool, cause that is freedom… i like his music too, make me feel like so relax, i love this site, i have a lot in common with you, the design taste, the videos, all, i wished to have friends like u here where i live.
