Vimeo iOS App

Posted by Scott

Just installed the new Vimeo app for iPhone (iPad and Android versions are apparently in development). Very impressive stuff, I have a feeling this will have me doing more video work on my iPhone. Of course, that wouldn’t be hard considering I never use the video functionality. It’s strange, when I bought the phone I justified it to some degree by telling myself “you’ll have an HD video camera in you pocket”. I then proceeded to never use it.

How much do you use your phone for video? Ever done any creative projects with it?

Release the Freq

Posted by Alex

This is the video for Matta’s “Release the Freq“. The incredible cinematography and design is by Kim Holm. I really like how the visual complexity builds subtly over the course of the video. And of course it maps to the music nicely, though I’m not really a huge fan of the song. The color grading on this is terrific — I’m tempted to go off into the woods searching for domesticated deers to photograph.

EF Language School Commercials

Posted by Scott

These beautifully executed commercials for EF International Language Centers were created by designer Albin Holmqvist (who did the type) and director Gustav Johansson. The typography is simply incredible; many of these frames would be suitable as posters. There are four commercials in all, the rest can be found at Albin Holmqvist’s Vimeo.

TED Behind the Scenes

Posted by Alex

I am headed to the TED conference this year and am unbelievably excited. I’ve been addicted to the talks for the better part of the last three years. My absolute favorite has always been Sir Ken Robinson’s discussion on creativity in education. I was excited to find the two videos above, the first of which shows a behind the scenes of Sir Ken’s talk, as well as the conference in general. A pretty cool peak into the workings of this amazing event.

Creep+JoyDivision+LightAsylum+Destroyer

In recent years, no one I think has ever put in more care and themselves into their debut video than Creep(Lauren Flax & Lauren Dilliard), it may not be your style or taste but these girls live the part and have dreamed up a visually appealing piece of work for their fans and those kind of things can keep any music scene glowing. Oh and it has Romy Madley the girl from The Xx which is the ultimate bonus.

After finding this 1,250.00USD Joy Division shirt from the 70’s I felt like sharing this song so I can think about ripping off the design and making my own because thats a ridiculous price tag. Once you hear how Ian Curtis sings “Mistake” you’ll be trying to say it all day.

New song from Light Asylum, I think i’ve posted ever song they’ve shared with us so far on this site. I can’t get enough of this vocalist! FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU

Out of the darkness and into some heat with Destroyer, this is already in my Top Albums of 2011 right out of the gate. No one I know that sings can make a more cohesive and focused album like this, mesmerizing to say the least.
