Geometric Design

Its hard not to notice the growing popularity of geometric shapes in design these days. A quick search on Behance and you really cant deny it. My laundry detergent even has a pattern of colored triangles on it (which is probably why I bought it). So at the risk of flooding the design community a little more, I have to share an iPad app I stumbled on the other day. Its called Poly.

Some before and after examples of what the app can do above.

Eric Valli

Jonathan (B3PO) turned me onto Eric Valli’s work a few weeks ago and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. One thing I want to do more of in life is experience situations like Valli has. You get a strong feeling that he deeply immerses himself into whatever culture he’s living in at the time. His award winning work on the Honey Hunters for National Geographic is insane. Climbing cliffs on who knows what kind of rope system with who knows how many bees flying around? Nuts. But the shots he brings home are flat out jaw dropping. They inspire me to want to buy a plane ticket to Tajikistan and find some sort of photo essay to do out there.

Check out the rest of Eric Valli’s work on his website. Hopefully it’ll inspire you to go out and travel somewhere awesome.

bradleycastaneda – I don’t cover many of the black & whites, they get too plain or overly influenced by capturing a photo that has been taken before. This feed has a great mix of mountain photos but the grit of the location shows, feels a bit more connected.

claireonline – You can almost hear the calmness in these photos.

diegovchavez – I’m careful about posting photos with too much HDR or sharpening turned up to the max, both can be controlled nicely in Camera+. I didn’t want to deny this upbeat feed because of my personal techniques, it was just too friendly once I started scrolling thru.

six37 – I was thinking this might be the last graphic focused instagram post we’ll feature, maybe not though, I really do like seeing how far six37 takes it.

sofiasternegard – There are some lovely workspace shots by sofiasternegard, nice arrangements of whats in front of her, I definitely do enjoy that as a concept for a feed.

mikeluang – With the sky as the focus, its hard to go wrong most days.

drsmoothdeath – Such a good feed, it all looks like this, just older parked cars, give it a chance, you won’t be bummed out.

mollielw – consistent silver-ish haze thru the whole feed, makes you feel like you woke up from a daytime nap out in the country.

crivacriva – minimal architecture and solid color schemes are pretty common on Instagram but this feed keeps me interested still, maybe because its not too simplified.
