Listen to Radiohead: The King Of Limbs

Posted by Jakub

The new Radiohead album popped up yesterday, if you’d like to at least hear a stream of it before you bought it then listen above. To be honest there isn’t a bad song on this, a solid listen straight thru for me. What I love about each song:

The King Of Limbs tracklist:
01 “Bloom” – The loose drumming with the looped keys.

02 “Morning Mr Magpie” – Again excellent drumming, this time tight and when it meshes with the airy break down, you almost feel like your getting lifted off your feet.

03 “Little By Little” – One of my least favorite, the electronic ride throws me off alil but Thom’s voice holds it together with the reverse backing instrumental popping up.

04 “Feral” – Alright now were talking, some of that dark low tone driving with Thom samples sprinkled around perfectly, probably my favorite track.

05 “Lotus Flower” – That short fluttering synth with the bass line.

06 “Codex” – Ladies and Gentlemen the brass section.

07 “Give Up The Ghost” – That lo-fi recording of Thom’s voice towards the end looping.

08 “Separator” – One of the strongest songs on this album, loving the echoed out guitars toward the second half that keep the track floating.

Thanks for streaming the album…it relieved me from the need to buy it right away. I’ll buy it for sure, I just gotta wait for a paycheck.

The shortness of this album makes me wonder if they’ll release another album within 1-2 years….like the release of Kid A and Amnesiac

So far I’m enjoying it quite a bit.

First thing I can say, I suppose, is that I like the progression they’ve made from In Rainbows. Not to say that it’s necessarily better, or worse for that matter, but it’s different. Rainbows was very much a rock album to me, with some really catchy structures and great instrumental diversity.

Limbs on the other hand takes an almost entirely different approach, heading more towards dubstep. Feral, for example, sounds almost like a Burial track, especially with Thom’s distorted wailing. There are exceptions to this though, mostly towards the end of the album. Give Up the Ghost is a good example, and it makes me nostalgic for the Bends.

within 5 seconds into the first track, it was like being reunited with a long-lost friend at an airport terminal, them returning after a long trip, back with fresh ideas and new experiences. amazing album.

Thank you so much for posting this Jakub! Radiohead is my favorite band and I have been so eager to hear their new album. Now I am at peace. Loving it so far but the only thing I am not too fond of is the artwork. I’ll wait to see the the newspaper album.

People are thinking that there’s a second ‘missing’ part. It’s rather strange that after 4 years they have only 8 songs worth almost 40 minutes of music to give to the public. And the last song ‘Separator’ might suggest that there’s something missing. Anyone thinking alike?
It is a nice album, although i’m not a fan of Radiohead, i kind of liked this one.

I pre-ordered as soon as I heard that it was going to be available. The first listen was pretty quick. It definitely feels shorter than In Rainbows. Like every Radiohead before it though, it improved with subsequent listens.

I’m curious to know if there’s going to be a second album.

I dunno if I’m digging this album on the whole that much. I’ve only listened through once but I just feel like its aimless at times; maybe after a few more listens it’ll grown on me. the album art is quite interesting though.

This album has it’s moments, but for the most part I felt it was pretty boring. In Rainbows didn’t do much for me either. I think it’s time for me to move on from this band.

I love tracks 6 & 7, but the rest is lost in dubstep and Public Image Ltd era ‘flowers of romance’ deconstruction.

I’m not saying I don’t like it per-say but I’ve not quite gotten the feel of all of it.

At 1st I was wondering why Thom would release his newest solo effort under the Radiohead banner.

Too many deconstructive influences and not enough of a collective BAND effort in the writing is my view currently but that could change.

Again tracks 6 & 7 are amazing.

Wires newest effort is a lil boring also.

Unlike Mogwai’s and PJ Harveys newest releases, which are amazing.
