I’m doing a solo exhibition at Function 13 Gallery in Toronto next Friday where I’ll be showing some new work and large format stuff. I’m still working on the main poster for the event so I’ll be posting that on Monday probably. For now, here’s all the details:

Jackson presents The Ghostly 10-Year in Chicago
As Ghostly International hits the 10-year mark, we’re throwing a series of pretty-big-deal parties in select location across the globe. Having torn the roofs off Los Angeles, San Francisco, Detroit, Miami’s Winter Music Conference, and Detroit’s Movement festival, we now aim our music cannons at Chicago. The evening’s bill includes music/design phenomenon Tycho, melodic electro legend Solvent, local industrial legends Kill Memory Crash, and Eliot Lipp’s Dark Party. A DJ set from Mike Servito rounds out a night of truly outstanding music.
I’m flying into Portland tomorrow for the Emrg+N+See Festival in Macleay, OR (outside of Salem). The event goes from Friday-Sunday and I’ll be playing a Tycho/ISO50 set with visuals Sunday night. From the looks of the lineup it’s going to be a great show (see below). The full schedule with set times can be found here.

# Plastician

It’s been nice being home this weekend after the past couple weeks on the road. PackardPlantz was kind enough to post up some video from the Detroit show (see above). I’ve been using Vidvox’s VDMX for the live visuals. VDMX is an incredibly powerful, modular, realtime video app for OS X. It employs Apple CoreImage to leverage the GPU directly and the performance is pretty amazing. It can handle full HD video with multiple layers of QC effects running over three decks with no problems. For this trip I brought along the brand new Vestax VCM-600 (pictured below) which I’ve really enjoyed working with.
After my set I had the honor of doing live visuals for Telefon Tel Aviv which was really an amazing experience to say the least (see video below or click here to view). Will Calcutt shot the video with a Canon 5D MKII and it looks pretty amazing. He showed me some other shots he got of Matthew Dear’s DEMF closing set which really showed off the range of the camera. I was pretty much sold after seeing those, unfortunately he hasn’t posted them yet. Suffices to say, the 5D MKII is the strong frontrunner for HD-capable DSLR’s in my book right now.

Just want to say thanks again for everyone who made it out to the Tampa, Detroit, and Toronto shows. I had a blast playing and hope to be back soon. You can find a few more videos on Youtube here: Tycho Detroit Videos
Still relaxing in Miami before heading up to Detroit for the Ghostly 10 Year show at Magic Stick this Saturday. I’ll be playing with Telefon Tel Aviv, Deastro and Michna. You can score tickets early for $15 ($20 @ the door) here. Hope to see you out.
After that I’ll be heading up to Toronto for the Wednesday (5/27) show at the Drake. You may have read Sam’s earlier post on that show, but in case you missed it he included a preview of the next Tycho single in the form of Manual’s superb Coastal Brake remix. Check it out!
The Back in Black show last night in Tampa was amazing, thanks to everyone for making it out and thanks to the Back in Black crew and Merchline for having me out. The picture above does a better job of summing up the vibe of the show than words ever could, so I’ll leave it at that.
Just flew in to Miami for some R&R before heading up to Detroit and Toronto for the Ghostly shows. (Detroit 5/23 , Toronto 5/26). Hope to see you up there.
I’m participating the Back in Black T-Shirt exhibit in Tampa, FL this year. The video above has some stuff from last year’s event, they basically bring together a bunch of artists and we all design a black t-shirt. No rules, pretty fun. You can see a small mock-up of my design for the exhibit (above). They should be posting a larger version at the Back in Black site shortly, but I just turned in the artwork so this is all I have for now.
I’ll also be playing a Tycho set as part of the Back in Black 2 party on Saturday, May 16th at the Imperial Theater. I’ll also be bringing out the projectors and doing the live ISO50 visuals along with it. All the details are below:
Tycho / ISO50 Live – Saturday, May 16th, 2009
Location: Imperial Theater – 1420 E. 7th Ave. Tampa, FL
Free entry, 18 & Over
Tycho set starts at 12 midnight. Back in Black Website
Our very own Alex Cornell designed this poster for the live 2 hour solo acoustic set he’ll be playing this Thursday at the California Academy of Science in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. Be there! His set is part of the Nightlife series featuring a lecture by WIRED magazine.
Edit: Unfortunately, it looks like it’s sold out.
Edit #2: Apparently there are tickets to be had at the door. Just make sure to show up a bit early…
