Mike Bayne creates striking realist paintings that celebrate the mundane. Can’t help but be reminded of William Eggelston’s work, which while photographic, maintains a sort of painterly style.
Coming late in the year but better late than never is the highly anticipated(definitely in my opinion) new album from Real Estate on Domino Recordings. Lead by Matt Mondanile aka Ducktails and his close friends, this record would have been the perfect summer album but it will fill that void of when I can’t listen to any more drone during the winter and need vocals that aren’t annoying. On Days they cut out most of the lo-fi feel, its more classic rock in the sense that you’d hear in a garage of your father’s friends house and you’d be like “this man has good taste“, its not all weak folk/rock like Decemberist or Death Cab and also doesn’t get all psychedelic(never a bad thing) like a Tame Impala album, just the perfect tone. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, pre-order the album here
Good Day CA is a self-initiated project by Los Angeles designer Braden Wise. Drawing inspiration from the sights and experiences of traveling on the road, Wise created a set of postcards to chronicle his trip from the Midwest to his new home in California. See the rest of the series here.
These incredible time lapse videos were shot by Dustin Farrell. I’m at a loss for words after watching these; you really have to see them for yourself. Landscapes: Volume One & Two are the first two parts in a planned trilogy, and I can’t wait to see the next one.
You can read more about the making of these videos here.
One of my favorite blogs that I go to is Get Off The Coast, they always have their hands full of new music that I need to own and see. Today they premiered my new mix Occupied Sleep which is really an honor since I trust their taste, so please feel free to download the mix below and visit their blog.
