WorstFriends+SKM+ThaviusBeck+TheBooks

Tom Croose and Slow Hands make up Worst Friends, both of them have contributed amazing exclusive work for the ISO50 with playlists, mixes, remixes, edits, and covers of artists like Van Morrison, Beirut, Fleetwood Mac and M83. Both of them are great guys, they were my DJ partners when I moved to Brooklyn and now release on Future Classics and Wolf+Lamb and also “Tom” is getting married this summer, congrats guys on this 12″ release.

A new Sun Kil Moon album is out and i’m loving it all the way thru, check out the Mark Kozelek playlist I put together awhile back.

This weekend I watched a Thavius Beck ableton sort of lecture on how he uses his Beat Repeat, it was pretty enjoyavble so I went back to find a track for the blog and found this gem, is this an Outkast song? I don’t know enough about Outkast sadly.

The Books have a new album coming out, i’m huge fan, the guys in that group definitely have influenced many musicians I know, this new one sounds like if you made Lemon Jelly and DJ Shadow work together 8 years ago, which to me is a great thing.

Kisses+Minks+How To Dress Well+Tom Vek

Posted by Jakub

I think this Kisses song is in my top 5 songs of the year, I haven’t stopped listening to it, I keep wanting to learn the lyrics and sing along softly, looking forward to this record, 1:20 and on pssssssssssssssshhhhh unreal. I do wonder though why I love it so much? is it because it sounds like something familiar? help me out here.

When I press play I picture goths dancing in their bedrooms and completely not being goth anymore, it brings a smile to my face, nice one Minks.

The production quality these days of songs seems to not matter much to many but sifting thru some of this muffled pieces of work sometimes a gem comes up and its worth the ear wear. How to Dress Well has that dreamy appeal that might sound amateur to many fans of even something far fetched like Panda Bear meets Janelle Monae but still becomes a wonderful song.

Can a Tom Vek fan get a new Tom Vek album already?

SVIIB + Matthew Dear + Willits + Noveller

I remember when I first heard Dust Devil by School Of Seven Bells, I wanted to share it with everyone and have it on repeat. The synth line is driving and full like a proper synth pop melody should be these days. The girls sound powerful and untouchable to their surrounding counterparts in the music world. The record is out now and comes with remixes from Mux Mool and The Sight Below for less than $8 on iTunes.

Below is a video that shares some of the highlights of this groundbreaking Matthew Dear album that’s coming together, I can’t put my finger on the sound and that gets me excited. The record touches on a tempo and soundscape that is unlike anything being done right now, check this song that was just leaked the other day.

Oh Willits…you are one of the kings of controlling glitch with guitar making it a beautiful thing, never stop, your sound is perfect for any journey in life.

Noveller has my complete attention when she plays live, she brings an array of pedals for her guitars and slowly entrances you into a stare while you listen.

Head over to Gorilla vs. Bear to download a recent mix, Scott and I thought the cover art was as amazing as the music.

Hey it’s live clips of new Panda Bear songs that might be on his new record, everybody flip out! the man can do anything and we’d love it, i’m actually really enjoying this song but usually I enjoy his voice more than I do here.

I realized Dam-Funk makes music that feels like a relaxing night on the west coast, I don’t think the midwest or Canada could really fully love this sound without referencing 2-Pac somehow to enjoy it as much as someone from Oakland or LA.

Here’s a new song that was posted exclusively on De:Bug Magazine’s site done by Love-Step duo Praveen and Machinedrum aka Sepalcure, I love this song and I love these guys, I want them to blow up bigger than any [fill in the blank]step producers. Nice work guys! If you want to hear more from them, check out this focused post I did a few months ago.

Something slammin’ from James Pants, wasn’t expecting this but i’m definitely not bummed in the least bit, pure summer fire for the heads.

BestCoast+GoldenAges+M. Tapes+HighWolf

This song by Best Coast has more pop like lyrics than any other song we’ve probably posted but the song still grabbed me, its short and catchy, its one of those songs that the way it was recorded makes it appealing.

I can’t even find Golden Ages myspace, there are too many bands named that I guess, I heard he’s only 20, so much young talent these days, I can hardly keep track.

I imagine Crystal Castles will have a ton of remixes spewing out over the next 9 months, I think this one will hold up as the best just because of the second half.

Here is more High Wolf to relax too, definitely some calming and hypnotic loveliness.

Below is a new video for Com Truise’s Iwywaw, I love everything about it.

Computer Magic+OPN+Truman P.+Royksopp

Brooklyn’s Computer Magic is just one girl that makes some great lo-fi indie synth material, this song Electronic Fences makes me think if Nite Jewel had to do a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s I’m On Fire it would come out sounding something like this.

This beautiful track by Oneohtrix Point Never has been on repeat more than any other song this year, its like playing Drexciya underwater at a slower tempo or maybe i’ve just discovered a new level in Zelda and its getting serious.

Joining Keepaway and Prince Rama I think Truman Peyote is another band I can’t wait to see live up close, The Panda Bear sound is influencing some really good music.

I don’t know what to think about this new Röyksopp, maybe i’m not ready for this type of relaxation yet this summer from a song, your thoughts?

CEO + Pioulard + To Rococo Rot + Mueller

Posted by Jakub

CEO is half of Sweden’s The Tough Alliance, its upbeat pop that reminds me of the lighter side that the Balearic sound needed to keep that great genre going.

Benoit Pioulard does a non vocal remix of Owen Pallett’s recent single, great texture and echo.

Its been awhile since we’ve heard anything relevant from long time instrumental masters To Rococo Rot, i’m really enjoying this one, it has soo many hints of what I enjoyed from their first few records but touches on maybe even better melodies.

You probably won’t find Paul Mueller on iTunes because he’s a street performer that I saw in Manhattan yesterday, he hammered away beautiful melodies on his Dulcimer while I sat and starred. I’m guessing he’ll play more? Union Square L stop at around 3p? if you see him ask him to add the bells to the LP that were on his ankles, that combo made me miss 3 trains.

Foxes In Fiction+Samps+Walls+L. Pollution

Foxes In Fiction originally released his album Swung from the Branches by himself for free but recently has reissued it with 3 bonus tracks including this song Flashing Lights Have Ended Now. This weekend I got to see him play at the record store down the block from my house that is run by Mexican Summer, he played a great set that reminded me of Atlas Sound and Benoit Pioulard.

While I was in that record store the record shop guy put on this 12″ from The Samps which is a great mixture of some of my favorite genres all in one. It has that lo-fi sound that Lone brought back nicely while touching on a slow disco tempo to carry it along into something fresh sounding.

The Field never disappoints on remixes, this time he takes a stab at a label mates single, the original by Walls was great but at the 2:16 mark this remix becomes a Field classic.

Carpark as always is on a tear, cleaning up with the most exciting signings. Recently they signed Light Pollution who have already secured some lovely bill spots like Pitchfork’s After Party @ The Empty Bottle w/ Delorean + Glasser and opening for Neon Indian, look for them to squeeze onto more summer mixtapes.
