Com Truise – Galactic Melt

Posted by Jakub

My official “summer jams” record is finally available and it couldn’t come at a better time, Com Truise’s Galactic Melt is mind tingling, full of future fuzz, and glows like melting hot glass. This album is like watching a volcano, not the eruption but more of the thick bright magma slowly oozing out unstoppable beauty. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I love it! Damn what a record. It’s hotter than that vulcano. I wish a had more words to say how fantastic this record is.
By the way ,is the rumor true that he’s doing the soundtrack of the new Gop Tun movie? (sorry, counld’t resist..;-)

i wonder is this album is say, an ‘appropriation’ of Saville’s Unknown Pleasures album by Joy Division?

I’m going to see him in Nashville too!

The art is definitely an “Unknown Pleasures” nod, but Com’s made it no secret that Joy Division has a big influence on him.

So glad this is on Vinyl.

rolls down windows, puts on shades, turns up volume, nods head until it falls off.

i like seth’s shit for sure, very talented dude. been awaiting this release since it was announced as well. however…i was hoping for something sunnier and not so rigid (i realize his oeuvre is electronic/circuitry etc. so perhaps a retarded comment). maybe it’s me but his earlier stuff and soundcloud output seems not as forced or something…there’s a real technicality to galactic melt that i find almost overbearing.
that said, generally speaking this is a tasty effort. hyper lips is a great tune and alot of his synth melodies are quite lovely.

Um this couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.

Also, my first listen through this album just happened to be when I was watching “Gleaming The Cube” for the first time in like 13 years…

Made me miss the 90’s… for like 11 seconds.

I think it’s okay. The sounds are nice ,but I expected a lot more.
First,it’s short for a LP.
Second, the compositions are weak. Everytime ,with a new track it got me thinking, “Ow, Is this it?” So ,yes ,it’s okay, but this can be a lot better.

Nice tunes, although each track just sounded like the last, needed more progression as a whole.

i’ve spent some time and overall i see a pretty solid debut. i think some of his tunes are just that, tunes…jams, whatever you want to call it. and those jams/tunes are generally pretty awesome. i don’t feel the album really flows, feels more like a collection of tunes than a start to finish ‘thing’.
i do think that sometimes his transitions are a bit…weak? a track will start out great, chug along like ‘fuck yea’, but then come to a grinding halt of pointless riffery…cathode girls comes to mind. amazing tune, but at the halfway mark it just stops and there’s some clunky soloing. i also don’t love some of the ‘sound design’ parts, they just feel needless and at odds with the general theme of making ‘tunes’ on an album collection of ‘tunes’ – if that makes sense. just start the song, you don’t need to intro a tune with a bunch of fax/modem wankery.
overall though, i’m bangin’ this shit.

Just found this album, it’s been on repeat for days. I’m a huge boards of Canada fan and this just hits the spot, very similar IMO to my favorite BOC tracks. Galactic Melt has got to be my favorite album in years and Com Truise is my new hero. This album has given me chills more than once…I gotta say I really like the little digital soundscapes between songs. Listen with a GOOOOOOD pair of headphones and ur mind will be blown. If I listened wtb a cheapo pair of earphones I think I might have been a little disappointed. But in the dark with good headphones it makes me see outer space scenes and lasers and warping through the stars etc… (I do have mild synesthesthesia) and some tracks -flightwave, hyperlips, and glawio, especially- paint the most beautiful pictures. Highly recommended. Usually I am satisfied with just streaming music from rhapsody, but I am enjoyingthis so much I want to go buy an album of his to show some support.

Warm analog waves massaging my brain, Blade Runner skyline, THX-1138 computer telling me everything will be okay. Remember the future, oh yeah I love that
