Silent Grips

School of Seven Bells

Right around the time the Ghostly Swim tracklist was coming together i had to check out some more releases by some of the new faces and picked up this limited 7″ vinyl from School of Seven Bells called Silent Grips. You might remember them from the last Prefuse 73 record or saw them on a tour date with Blonde Redhead. They have this wonderful full sound that is worn down, its like if you molded together some of the best parts of Slowdive and replaced the guitars with warm synths and but brought the vocals up front and add some slower dusty Black Moth Super Rainbow percussion. I hope you enjoy.

Great choice in tunes, Jakub… I like the album artwork above.

By the way, I was looking at the Obama site by chance a few minutes ago and the prints are up for presale I guess. Of course, I nabbed one! AMAZING work Scott!

wow, loving that cover art… at the hotel now with these crap laptop speakers so not getting the full effect of the music, but sounding good even so.

I saw them on tour with Prefuse 73 some last Fall. Was a bit disappointed they didn’t play “Class of 73 Bells.” Cool show either way.

I saw these guys (well, gals) when they opened for Blonde Redhead in Boston. I remembered thinking at the time that they sounded like a modern mixture between Splashdown and Cibo Matto.
