MorningBender+Yeasayer+Lindstrom+Byrd

Posted by Jakub

I found The Morning Benders by sifting thru Pitchfork.tv’s video series where he got local musicians and friends to perform his song Excuses, it came out great and it really had a memorable feel to it.

One band I want to see live this year is Yeasayer, it shouldn’t be hard since we both live in Brooklyn. If their shows are anything like their video for Ambling Alp then even Daft Punk might have a contender for best band characters.

Lindstrom moves closer and closer to what Moroder did in his career by setting aside the 15+ minute songs and starts working with a vocalist, Lovesick is definitely a good pop direction for the synth genius.

I felt like the blog needed some upbeat funk and soul, so here’s some Donald Byrd, this 8 minute jam makes you do one of those “yeah I know the lyrics now!” half way thru the song and you just end up lip syncing the song all wrong but you really don’t care.

I always wanted to do a post that asks readers what they listen to just to find out whats on their minds but i never knew the best way for it to happen without it looking lame from our end

Loving the Lindstrøm & Christabelle cd lately .. there’s something about his disco sound that’s just so geniously catchy. Christabelle’s vocals fit perfectly too
Jakub, I think it would be cool for the readers to share what they’re listening to.. don’t know of a good way to approach that either without it getting messy.
Speaking of sharing though, if you want some more disco house sound, check out the new one by ‘Reagenz’ (Move D & Jonah Sharp) .. stand out track ‘Dinner With Q’ .. Also the Nebraska’s new EP release ‘a weekend on my own’ is worth repetitive listens.

Speaking of Moroder,
have you guys checked out the Synth Britannia documentary? It’s been split up into 10 min intervals on youtube. PERFECT for breaks at the work-desk ;)

I saw Yeasayer twice in 2008, and they were so amazing! I’m still not sure what to think about their new album, but they’re definitely worth seeing live!!
