Longmont Potion Castle Prank Calls

Posted by Jakub

Longmont Potion Castle
I know starting out the year with a non music post from my end isn’t what I should be doing in my mind but its Sunday and before we get back into our consistent groove I wanted to share some prank calls from the very unique Longmont Potion Castle. His subtlety and choice of words some of the time really make these worth listening to over and over. He has this lazy and broad reply attitude that keeps people on the phone which I really admire and I think thats what made me want to share these with you all. If you like any of these there up on iTunes.

So under rated! I love how he has these recurring little “tricks” he uses. Ugh i’m starting to pee my pants just thinking about it

These are hilarious. Never heard of this guy before, though I’d had a friend who was eerily similar to his demeanor and he wasn’t joking around. I always wonder how many times they have to call to get good recordings.

Nash was well done. That’s what I would do if I had crazy loopers and samplers.

“What’s that beep?”
“Rope, moving around…”

I’ve not listened to them yet but I’m a huge fan of prank calls.

Anyone ever heard of the Earles & Jensen prank calls on Matador Records?
http://www.matadorrecords.com/earles_and_jensen/

There are clips there to listen to, and I’m pretty sure these a bit older, probably from the 90s.

Also, there’s a free itunes podcast for Z100 Phone Taps (radio station in New York) but I’m not sure it’s been updated in a while. Anyone ever heard those? The radio station pranks people using caller-provided info, or caller participation, so it’s not just a random prank. I’m talking stuff like “girl calls mom to say she got caught with drugs in college dorm,” or “guy calls another guy to confess to having an affair with his wife” kind of stuff. It’s mostly New Yorkers, Italians, Puerto Ricans, Staten Island and Queens people, most get incredibly angry. I’ve got more than 435 of them on my ipod, and they never get old. Check itunes, not sure if they’re still there but they’re incredible.

A friend recently introduced me to Longmont Potion Castle and suggested I’d probably really appreciate the style of the calls. LPC is brilliant. He is to prank calls what Ween is to music and Mitch Hedberg was to comedy: something that 99% of people won’t get into, but that other 1% will get fanatical about.
