South Africa’s Alan Abrahams in my opinion makes the most authentic and unique tribal house, he takes you into the thickest brush on the back of a black panther and just drops you off to fend for yourself while being pretty much assaulted by pure body music, I really couldn’t ask for more of an intense musical experience.
Found these edits on this label called Galaxy at Turntable Lab, some great limited 12’s, recorded a few to MP3, enjoying this Arthur Russell one, i’ll post the Towa Tei one soon.
Saw Prince Language DJ a few weeks ago in Brooklyn with Tom Croose and he dropped an edit of this Lindsey Buckingham track as the last cut of the night, classic jam!
Alright here is some dubstep rowdiness, its on some other tip that my mind doesn’t understand but my ears love, maybe save it for the weekend? or just turn up your speakers as loud as possible. Woooooo the low end and that slow of a tempo just gets me everytime, just think submarine battles and helicopters indoors.
When I first heard this Radio Dept. song I thought I was hearing the beginning of White Town – Your Woman but that definitely wasn’t the case because I check out that song on youtube and they sound nothing alike, I guess thats how long its been since i’ve heard White Town. I really like this David song, it doesn’t follow any trends, the panning on the harp going by at a certain part made me laugh a little, the catchiness and instrumentation might not start a dance party but i’m sure if you played it for friends they would ask who it was.
Some people might not be into Juan Atkins(aka Infiniti), like right now i’m trying to pretend i’m hearing this song for the first time and i’m not from the Detroit area, alright wait okay mind blown at 1:08 & 2:06, i’m sold.
Grand National came along and were overshadowed by The Rapture, Interpol, and The National but if you have even one ounce of excitement when a good slower Indie Dance Rock comes along then this song will definitely give you goosebumps when the bassline drops in and when he says “I blame it on myself ‘cos i can’t keep anything down”.
I think the horns at the beginning of Lalo Schifrin’s were stolen by Who Wants To Be A Millionaire so Mr. Schifrin please collect your royalties on that but other than that the horns in the rest of this song are magnifique
Petar Dundov made an epic piece that reminds me of those Sesame Street songs that were used when you watched something grow or being built in time lapse, always loved those songs.
Le Loup is very similar vocally to something that is on tip of my tongue but its not coming to me, any one know, its not Animal Collective or Grizzly Bear i don’t think but maybe it is. Either way the music starts off like something that Mum might of done then fills with claps and The Chap like melodies into a really catchy track that you might end up playing over and over like I do.

The label Rush Hour has been front and center this year releasing some of the best non vocal House records in my opinion. This Nebraska 12″ keeps that ball in the air even though its a reissue, the keys and how sweet the loop is just has me playing this song over and over.
When I have to explain to someone that I know deep down doesn’t give a crap about dance music or they file it under club music in their head it really gets me down right in the middle of the conversation. I usually try and speed talk thru and explain the sound as 90%(more like 96% actually) of dance music is awful and there is 10% thats gorgeous. Lawrence in my mind can make mix for a grandmother, a politician, a baby thats falling asleep, a clubby kid riding around in a Nissan Cube, a construction worker that watches alot of Everybody Loves Raymond and I truly think if they got to sit thru one of his sets they’d find out how good this music is, so whenever I find a Lawrence mix I usually ride it out until even the MP3 is worn down like a track shoe you’d find on the side of the road.

Loving this Egyptian Lover track, reminds me a bit of Twin Peaks at times.
Everyone has their favorite MJ song, this was mine, loved the crowd noise when I was a kid, makes me think about seeing video of Europeans looking at Michael Jackson perform live on stage and freaking out and getting dragged away crying because they loved him so much, to be honest when MJ passed I was thinking that Europe would flip out 10x more than the US and it probably did.
Sam posted some Drexciya a few weeks back, really minimalistic speedy synthy dark electro, perfect for a night speedboat rides.
For this Dam Funk track you really need to let it get half way through, Think Sonic the Hedgehog meets 2Pac if you aren’t into it so it at least puts a smile on your face, for the recent of you enjoy the heat this curious talent is giving off.
Recently DFA’s new regular Woolfy released an LP and honestly I wasn’t feeling much of it compared to his singles but this track towards the end of the album caught my ear about 1:30 mins in and on, a definite keeper for the travelling record crate.

I’ve always had respect for the band but never really dove into their catalog like some of the diehards out there but this Pillars track is pretty gnarly.
With Michael Jackson passing away today this song title by Bill Withers might not be the best but it puts me in a better mood right away. My mom told me when I was growing up my 2 idols were Mike Tyson and Michael Jackson, that kind of sounds awful now because of legal troubles they both have had but back then it was fitting for a young kid that loved NES and dancing. Mike Tyson wasn’t too bad in The Hangover I thought, anyone see it? well anyways while everyone is blasting MJ i’m gonna take a backseat until I have a proper post.
I do get a lot demos recently to my iso50 email account and I usually don’t get to post a track but for the first time something really grabbed me by a band named Paneye, I hope to maybe get this song out on Moodgadget and produced a bit better but I do love the rawness of the recording and the guys voice.

The other night i’m sitting on the computer and Mux Mool sends me a picture and starts laughing and talking about how there’s a Moodgadget car driving around. In my mind I always thought if I get enough money together one day I might buy a white Honda Element and turn it into the Moodgadget Logo. I might even put the generic man as a tint on the window but now no need because the Nissan Cube came into play. LOOK AT IT! I mean WHAAUUUT IS GOING ON!? who does that with a back window? only the Moodgadget logo.
Let me give a little background about the Moodgadget logo, a lot of people call it MOONgadget maybe because it looks like something that would land on the moon or I can’t pronounce my D’s because I might mumble sometimes but really its a dreamt up idea I had that involves my obsession with pods and early early Radiohead covers, the old Royksopp video, and those cube shaped rooms that take you up a mountain that are used mostly by tourists. The Moodgadget logo was designed by 3 friends of mine: Adrian (Creative Director of the silhouette iPod commercials), Danny (Art Director at Ghostly), and Adam (co-owner of Moodgadget) and the idea came from a dream that I had about these white pods what were controlled by these generic business men sitting inside them that floated almost assembly line style out of a glass dome flying by these row of trees and straight into the sun except for one that was in color meaning still black and white but the glass window was light blue and the guy inside had pigment to his skin. This guy wasn’t in the assembly line he was floating around exploring but not too smart of a fellow because he always questioned everything since it was all new to him and he was just overall really curious. I think that dream of the logo kind of symbolized the music industry back then for me which was a lot generic music and compilations that we’re very specific and what we do at Moodgadget is kind of break down those barriers that were up and share music that is all over the place but still catchy in a way, kind of like the music on the blog that we pick but still educates hopefully and makes you want to try listening to something new.
Let’s get back to the Nissan Cube, not my style because of how bad their commercial was for it which if I remember correctly was probably geared toward break dancers that pop n lock in their cars, people that love glowing LEDs filling their stereo screens and those people that go out to the club with a fedora hat on tipped to the side because they’re soo “street” it hurts. To be honest Nissan should of hired on a creative like Scott or some of you that send in great pieces that Scott reposts and not this Mitsubishi Eclipse regurgitation of a car commercial that probably could be sold to people like me if it was delivered to us in a way that doesn’t make me feel like a soulless 20 year old that can’t speak for himself and wants to dance to Soulja Boy or whatever ringtone Rap is popular now(the stanky leg? I dunno i’m so lame when it comes to the hot tracks on the radio) or Tiesto talentless trance music thats played in the bigger metro clubs around the world.
Either way, I’d like to see a song off this blog make it onto the next Nissan Cube commercial, maybe we’d post the commerical and the 4th generation Nissan Cube get a little help from a design firm from Sweden and we might sell a few of these cars.
