Wes Anderson has always been know for his nostalgia and attention to detail and his animated film Fantastic Mr. Fox was apparently no exception. According to a comment on the original post these are based on the following real-world watches: “Casio Databank, Rolex Submariner, Casio A158W, Timex Weekender”. And here is an image showing the watches next to their real counterparts.

The bezel shape for the Timex Weekender is also incorrect, not to mention the shape of the hands. Any watch collector could probably tell you better than me, but the bezel looks like a lot of “military” style watches, e.g. the Timex Military Watch or to a lesser extent, the Victorinox Basecamp. I’m guessing that these were intended to reference these particular watches, not reproduce them exactly, probably for copyright/trademark reasons.

I knew of the Sub Mariner and Casio. Was curious as to what the others where. Still one of my all time favorite films. Im absolutely hooked. It seems every time I watch it again I find something else that astounds me.

and theres something fantastic about that isn’t there?
