I’m a big fan of Charles’ work. The octopus and martian shots in his Viernes Show Productions Collection are surreal! Makes you feel like floating at about 0:22 seconds in.

I couldn’t agree more about your point about bland web footage/unoriginal/afterthought projections. Charles made all of these from scratch for the music. It’s all OG baby

I use mainly After Effects and Final Cut for software. Some things in here are Cinema 4D, but I only have just started in the past year in that. For the cameras, it’s a mix. I have a HVX (Octopus) and a GH1 (Liquids). For most of the liquid I have a giant fish tank and a lightbox that I shoot into.

These are gorgeous. I would love to see them in person at a show . . . I will have to keep a lookout.

These are inspiring, I’m now seriously reflecting on the possibilities for dynamic (not pre-programmed) video to go behind my live sets. This old miniDV camera won’t do, though…

I think you’d enjoy the visuals Lasse Hoile provides for the band Porcupine Tree. It’s very captivating work. And it’s quite easy to be swept up and forget to watch the band.
