Helios+CaleParks+D.Wilderness+Yeasayer

I’ve been sick in bed but that hasn’t stopped me from digging deep for music in between long naps, I found soo many nice tracks I even want to post the 4 songs for tomorrow now.
Helios is one of those bands i’ll always check out because I know they’ll have a stand out track on there album every time and this album is no exception. The song Cross The Ocean is the closest i’ve heard to something like Boards of Canada in a while but without the PBS feel, tell me if i’m wrong.
I’m loving this intro of this Cale Parks song, the whole song is really unique and forward thinking, definitely the definition of Avant Pop.
I just found Desolation Wilderness, a really low key post rock/surf-ish group and an enjoyable listen.
Yeasayer have the sound to take experimental indie pop to TOP 40, if you listen close to their instrumental its mind scrambling, how do you sit down and put that together with other band members?! they care and are super talented.

“without the PBS feel” – What exactly do you mean by this?
The Helios track is exceptional, thanks for sharing that. Loving Desolation Wilderness beyond a doubt. Also, beautiful photo.

Are there two Helioses out there? I feel like I checked out a Helios album a while back but it was just drab ambient-house-techno. Anyone know?

Hey Jakub the wow & flutter tape sound of the beginning guitar riff on Cross the Ocean is pretty PBS to me, maybe a little too somber of mood though. Good stuff!

@WH:
According to Last.fm, there are three Helios bands out there.
1) Keith Kenniff – ambient electronic artist
2) Kevin Kendle – synth pop/rock artist
3) Frank Rössel and Martin Blechschmidt – synth-pop artists
Number 1, Keith Kenniff, is the one we all know and love.

Thanks for the Helios mention. Never heard of these guys. I cannot quit Rhapsody. They have a bad selection of Boards of Canada tracks, but a nice selection of Helios, so I rejoined as opposed to plunking down $20 on two albums.
