Real Lies have grabbed the essence of what I adore about music from England and how do revival of a retro sound.
1:24 and on, I can’t get enough of that wild girl voice. Trust is back and I couldn’t be happier.’Joyland’ will be released by Arts & Crafts on March 4, 2014.
What amazing vibes from the new Tomas Barfod / Nina K. single. Its like a less flashy Little Dragon with pop touch that doesn’t force anything. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
White Rainbow throws out a release here and there on his bandcamp, he’s been veering away from hypnotic which i’m curious to hear the rest of this record will sound like, either way i’m always a fan.
If you are in the Chicago area, make sure to stop by the Schneider Gallery for blog favorite Reuben Wu’s latest exhibition titled Distant Suns. Opening reception night is this Friday, January 10th, and will run through March 1st 2014, alongside Lynn Saville.
Some words from the gallery on Reuben’s work:
Somewhere between 1970s concept album art, expeditionary imagery, and Surrealist painting is where Reuben Wu’s photographs steadfastly sit. His are pictures made in the real world, however, through collapsing time and merging processes, the real is transformed into the surreal, evoking a response simultaneously familiar and foreign. The photographs amplify the strangeness of place and speak to Wu’s individual experience within it.

We’ll never stop posting new Lone, its always an inviting listen, you may recognize it from a Rustie mix from 2012.
Titled “Homage (Until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.)” this single from Lamin Fofana had me in a trance this morning.
Terekke is true to the deep end of techno/house, he has a few 12″ out, hoping 2014 will be his breakout year.
I’ve been on a Nils Frahm kick over break, just pressing play and letting his whole LP after LP play through, really rewarding listening sessions.
The 1970’s and 80’s were an exciting time for F1, largely because constructors had less of a grasp on aerodynamic behaviour. As consequence, there were some fairly unique and extreme design discrepencies between competitors during that period, Brabham being one team who’s radical attempts may have achieved mixed results, but they always certainly looked fast. They were collectively memorable due to their distinctive liveries, my preference leaning towards the Alfa/Parmalat era.
I’ve been addicted to 1 mix this year and its been this on repeat. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED it for tomorrow morning or just preparing for tonights countdown. Happy New Year ISO50 readers!
For those people that have been on the fence about buying a modular, I think this is that piece that might put you in buying mode.
Intellijel Designs has introduced a new Eurorack synth module, the Atlantis, inspired by the classic Roland SH-101 synthesizer.
The Atlantis is heavily inspired by the architecture and sound of the Roland SH-101, but offers several enhancements:
Triangle core vcos (with far better tracking and Hard sync) instead of saw core
Primary vco has linear FM (not just exp)
MOD Vco can be linked to the primary VCO pitch CV.
Modulation oscillator switchable from LFO to VCO
Filter is multimode, 2/4pole switchable and has a special LP boost mode
Filter allows for selection of inverted ADSR mod source
Filter tracks 1V/oct
Mixer section includes and external source which is normalled to a sinewave
Filter has built in soft clipping
Envelope has looping option, re-trigger and selectable time range
Output VCA has two stage clipping circuit
External clock input for the S&H
Patch points for every synthesis section

Todd Osborn shares another free gift during the holiday, this time its all covers made on old computers. Anyone remember his gem from 2010?
Superstructure is yet another alias of Todd Osborn (Osborne, Soundmurderer, TNT, Starski & Clutch, etc). Continuing the tradition of intellectually undemanding Formula Fresh releases this release is a special holiday giveaway of cover versions made with older computer/game systems (ZX Spectrum, C64, NES).
This free album is also a precursor to Todd’s upcoming Drip.fm channel that will start subscriptions in 2014.
