Mushroom + Joakim + Prins + Woolfy

Posted by Jakub

The most Proggy of the Disco coming out of Italy is Mushroom Project, everything is a climb in slow waves, these songs could go on forever and I wish it did.

Prins Thomas has this way of always visually simulating me with his music, to me there is this Scandinavian beauty to it that the rest of us don’t know about.

Joakim has a great track record of some of my favorite remixes, he starts with making sure your patient but always delivers a well worked out idea, its always about the unique steps to the meat and potatoes of the song, the yearning for it to never end and not the drop.

End this spaced out Halloween music post on a tropical planet curated by Woolfy Vs. Projections, almost coma inducing in a good way.

Forget Your Past

Timothy Allen brought back some great shots of the abandoned Buzludzha monument in Bulgaria. As you can see from some of the before shots, this monument was quite a sight during it’s Communist heyday. I can’t imagine what it would be like to stand in front of an architectural and artistic work of this scale knowing it’s just sitting there rotting away.

Allen used a microlight to get the aerial shots, pretty amazing imagery and story.

Roach+Shed+Supreme Cuts+Throwing Snow

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Concentration and noting the repetition aren’t the key points to listening to a song like this by Steve Roach. It honestly takes exercise for most people on this planet to enjoy it. Some people like body music, familiar structure and others don’t, the fans of this style aren’t synth connoisseurs like others think, for me its like my brain has taste buds and someone pouring maple syrup on my brain, no drugs involved. This kind of music is the closest you can get to an actually exhilarating journey without moving and its made by a person that cares about quality thru and thru, I truly believe if there was a study this kind of sound is addictive.

Shed releases his hybrid genre LP today, there’s actually a few songs I wanted to share but this one stuck with me, probably not the best representation of what the rest of the album sounds like but it spoke to me, full on glide mode. If you’re looking for the LP, its here.

One sound(the smashing kick with the claps) I don’t agree on with Supreme Cuts just because the unethical use of them in rave music that wasn’t good in the least bit but thats only 5% of the time. But this might the most humble and well done outro i’ve heard in a while, give the listener what they are use to hearing at the end while it fades out, sequence wise i’m impressed and I really like the song as a whole.

Throwing Snow keeps making best music at the highest bpm that is head noddy but never screaming for my attention.

Beacon + SVIIB + K.S.I.A. + Phantogram

When I first started to hear the new Beacon EP live on stage it reminded me if Underworld meets James Blake but once masters came back I got to experience their signature deep south low end and it had more of that R+B feel that Active Child or How To Dress Well have been parading. What really grabs me is the hi-fi simplicity mixed in with that feeling that their not trying to make pop music, such a hard thing to pull off, download their FREE single here and watch the trailer below which includes the song Exhale, their EP drops on Nov. 15th.

Warm Ghost will be in my top 10 albums of 2011 no question, so it was a joy to discover this remix today by School Of Seven Bells, the addition of female vocals takes this off this planet and puts it in a new dimension.

What is there not to love about Keep Shelly In Athens? I mean I always hear a new synth usage effected in a way no one else is doing, her vocals are sounding so marvelous for the style their going for.

Phantogram is powering thru with their sound, its got the force to beast thru and become a pop juggernaut while still hanging onto their sound and swirling in some influences from Blonde Redhead and TV on the Radio.
