The Art of James D. Sachs
A game designer and programmer, James D. Sachs created his art using his Amiga, usually at lowest resolution (320×200). Amazing stuff. Makes me feel like I’m playing EcoQuest again.

Rupert Vandervell’s series Man on Earth is less about the environment they are taken in and more about the ‘human factor’ moving through it.
Captured against the ever-changing backdrop of the modern city, these photographs highlight the presence of life and the unique visual
characteristics of the human form against the urban background.
In the words of Rupert himself:
I wanted to portray a feeling of isolation and, though remaining distant from the subject, I wanted to intrude just a little on this solitude. In our crowded world, moments like these are becoming harder to imagine.
Modern Love is home base for Andy Stott and also this elegant LP from Miles called Faint Hearted. Its not one of those records you skip around and see if you have a track that you might listen to, its a full start to finish listen. I like to imagine i’m taking a solo trip to Berlin in fall, taking the train and not having to socialize with anyone and just enjoying the ride and the view.
Designer Richard Robinson was recently commissioned to work on a LP rework for Aphex Twin: Selected Ambient Works. Alongside this, he also designed some great posters which feature some of the master tapes from the original recordings.
Oil painter Danny Heller is back and has created a new, breathtaking series titled “City Modernism”. I’ve been following Danny for almost seven years now and as he keeps tacking on the years of experience, one can see the subtle growth and maturity in his works. I cannot praise Danny’s work enough. I never really understood what people meant when they talked about finding art that hits your soul in a way that you must own it until I saw Danny’s work for the first time. His work is really something to see in person. Speaking of which…
Danny will be presenting his new works at the George Billis gallery here in Los Angeles this weekend. If you live in the Los Angeles area, drop by the opening reception and check his work out, meet Danny and I’ll be there as well on Saturday. Details for Danny’s “City Modernism” are listed below:

For 100 days, Andrew Miller painted one branded object white, removing all visual branding, reducing the object to it’s purest form.
This has been one the most outstanding branding for a release/musician i’ve ever seen. The vision for Oneohtrix Point Never’s R Plus Seven album has pristine art direction touching on early 90’s european surrealism which I have a have such a soft spot for. The main stand out is this video by Takeshi Murata, if you haven’t seen it yet then I highly recommend it, its like still life 2.0.
