Games+Lovelock+Surfer Blood+Quantec

Posted by Jakub

Oneohtrix Point Never is at it again, melting our ears with synth leads and nostalgia as Games, its like the best Saturday morning cartoon intro.

Tangerine Dream did wonders for 80’s film scores and musicians, Lovelock follows down that path with this spacey light hearted jam.

Twin Shadow how are you going to just rip one of the most popular guitar loops out of a Police song and have the balls to put your name on it?!

On the road i’ve been listening to a ton of older and newer techy Dub, it makes the mind numbing 10 hour a day drives go by abit less painful.

Premiere: Yours Truly x Memoryhouse

Posted by Scott

We’re pleased to present the exclusive premiere of a new song and video by one of our favorite new artists, Memoryhouse. Yours Truly captured this beautiful performance of Pale Blue by the Canadian duo while they were visiting San Francisco’s The SUB. Stay tuned here for more info on the upcoming album and tour dates.

Memoryhouse – Pale Blue Video

Bibio + Samiyam + Rustie + Balam Acab

Posted by Jakub

Free spirited Gonjasufi gets reworked by label mate Bibio and its a real unique outcome. Don’t expect the usual guitar or anything worn in sounding, instead organs driving the song into this distorted bass guitar breakdown, it sounds better than I can describe it.

To help promote the upcoming Shigeto debut album Full Circle, Ghostly International is giving away some high profile remixes. The head nod master Samiyam takes Shigeto’s And We Gonna and slaps it around a bit into a low key west coast jam, download it here.

You want a gnarly release to wrap your head around then go out and pick up Rustie’s new EP that came out on Warp today. Its like Sonic the Hedgehog spinning out of control and getting tangled in miles of cassette tape thats being fast forwarded, i’m a fan of this kids creativity, he’s really setting the bar high for how wild this beat music can get and still be super enjoyable.

I keep looking at the name Balam Acab and think its another word just spelled backwards but its not. With the success of Baths I keep running into more beat releases with reverbed lyrics. I really love the use of the water related field recordings in this one, I hope to see this act live.

Brian Eno + Redshape + Pandatone + Fenton

Posted by Jakub

Oh man this first preview of the new Brian Eno’s LP on Warp Records has me geeked, have a listen above, it grows into a bit of an educated punk kids dream.

Deep techno wizard Redshape is always on my radar, I prefer his singles over any other material, if you ever want to hear someone holding down the early melodic Detroit sound than look no further than this man.

Brooklyn’s Pandatone glitches out on a low key folk venture, for some reason after hearing this I started to miss the labels like Hefty and earlier Mush, those were the days for this kind of sound.

I imagine that if I had a playlist for snowshoeing in the dark i’d putting a bunch of Fenton on it.

Lapaglia + FiF & Weed + No Age + Hecker

Joe Lapaglia is a native of Niagara Falls that has made me realize I should dip into more of this dark experimental folk. The fusion of folk and drone is soo appealing, it keeps things interesting when you listen to his album, you get a sense of how tense he wants you to feel after a string of his lyrics, grab a free song here from his LP.

Foxes In Fiction and Weed team up for a cross country(Vancouver – Toronto) cover to make Katy Perry’s hit single a lo-fi bedrock must have, download it here for free.

I liked No Age live more than on record, their new LP gets me excited to see what they do next on stage. This additional ethereal intro in Sorts should hopefully grab new ears for the bands already impressive recent success.

I gush over new Tim Hecker, its the most interesting noise in my opinion, to be able to grab this one track off iTunes for just $.99 is just robbery.

SoftPowers+WaskerleyWay+Mux+AroyDee

With all different kinds of 80’s revival sounds going on I can’t help but fall in love with most of them usually because of their easy going pace or lush melodies. Soft Powers not only has both but this memorable effect on the singers vocals, download their full LP here.

Washed Out, Animal Collective, Daft Punk and Memory Tapes have helped spawn an avalanche of similar artists, most people complain but hey I like those sounds so I just sit back and keep finding new music to pick thru and enjoy. Waskerley Way might wear their recently found influences on their sleeve but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the hell out of this song.

New Mux Mool, you know I love it, you know you’ll probably love it, it has a hint of a 2Pac West Coast vibe, channeling Dam Funk and just a sound that in my mind is a fusion of all things Mux.

I trust the Danish you know why? because they are the home of Delsin Records a label that puts out solid deep melodic/house/IDM compilations. They’re always a go to for nights when you think you’re the only one up at 430am and you just want to space out on something with abit of kick.

Andre Obin + Blondes + Fly Lo + Karaocake

Posted by Jakub

Recently I saw André Obin open for School Of Seven Bells, he is also scheduled to open for Tycho in NYC this Wednesday. He has a unique live show, he doesn’t do synth pop like most synth pop acts, he gives off this darker club vibe and its not a trendy direction either, its just a passionate early Kompakt feel with vocals, I don’t see very many American artists trying to do this. Grab this track up for free

Oh Blondes, when can I see you live, I hear great things and their EP Touched is a solid listen, can’t wait for an LP.

I didn’t know what to expect from Flying Lotus, I was hoping for loose psychedelic beat EP that would compliment his live show and extend the hype and I think he did just that. Clay is definitely my favorite track off the EP, the last 40 seconds show why he’s known for great composition and beat making.

I don’t know much about Karaocake to be honest but I picked it because it just reminded me of all the good mid 2000’s indie girl bands like Lali Puna, Broadcast, etc. that I don’t listen to much anymore.

Junip + Minks + Peter Broderick + Colleen

Posted by Jakub

I haven’t been this excited about a Jose Gonzalez song since Heartbeats came out, its like he took a Kings Of Convenience song on a psychedelic drive.

One artist I keep searching for is Minks, its the perfect mixture of goth, lo-fi and 80’s revival. This song even sparks up memories of a late night good time on the shore and not just bedroom dance party.

If Peter Broderick keeps releasing then i’ll keep posting his material, one of my favorites of his genre. Has anyone seen him live? i’m sure it must be relaxing and heart wrenching at the same time. This song gets soo intense, he was made to make soundtracks I swear, i’d trust him with the task over many that are in that business.

An oldie for some, I sometimes love to put on this Colleen album, it brings me back to when this and Mum felt really fresh in my ears.
