@McCrothers pointed out the fact that you could find some very interesting vintage items on Etsy. I thought it was all about handmade accessories and trinkets, but the above examples suggest otherwise. They’re from the 26 Olive Street shop where you’ll find a few other interesting odds and ends along with a lot of nicely Poladroid-erized product shots. This comes via a Valet article breaking down the Etsy second-hand market.

I actually have that darkroom timer on the bottom, it still functions perfectly! Kind of funny to see it posted here.

Doesn’t quite relate to Etsy, but… I’ve been nerding out trying to figure out what typeface that ’67’ is in the 3rd picture down.

I thought maybe a Trade Gothic LT Std Bold Condensed No. 20 (but the curved part of the 7 doesn’t match.)

Then maybe Alternate Gothic EF (but that’s definitely not it.)

My last guess was Newhouse DT Super Condensed Black (but the height of the 6 in that typeface compared to the photo doesn’t seem right)

…am I overlooking an obvious answer?

@CMP I don’t think so but maybe the 6 is an upside down 9 ?! Just an idea…
doesn’t seem likely though.

If you look at the rest of the numbers at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6811063 it looks a lot like Akzidenz Grotesk Bold Condensed, except without the extra little stroke on the 7. Oddly Akzidenz only has that extra stroke on condensed weights bold and above. Medium Condensed doesn’t have it. Maybe there was a past variation where bold condensed didn’t have it either. But I’m guessing they’re hand painted by a sign painter.
