Update: The L.A. installment of the show has been set for Sunday Mar. 8th. More info is on the events page, get advance tickets here.

Ghostly International’s 10th birthday is fast approaching and they’re having anniversary shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles to celebrate. I’ll be playing the first date on Friday, March 6th, 2009 at Mezzanine in San Francisco. As far as I know, the line up will be the same for L.A., but I don’t have all the details for that show yet. This should be a great night filled with a lot of great performances by the Ghostly crew. You can snag some advance tickets for $5 off here. Hope to see you all out, here’s all the details:

21+ isn’t it?

Scott, I don’t want to hate on you or Ghostly, but it really is a tragedy that almost all alternative electronic shows are 21+. I am 17, live in SF, and I LOVE Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Lusine, etc. with all my heart yet on the rare occasion they come to town I can’t go because it is considered adult music and I am unable to be permitted. I don’t even want to drink or anything at these shows, I just wanna hear my favorite musicians play live. Heck, you could send me in with “Do not serve alcohol” written on my face and I would be happy.
It restricts the music to the next generation, where it really needs to go in order to expand, as none of my peers know of any electronic music beyond Justice and Basshunter. Again, I know you have no control over it, I just wish someone would consider us lonely IDM kiddies sitting at home all alone.

I hear you…but I can tell you that making all ages shows work is really difficult. if you go for under 21, then you most likely lose the ability to serve alcohol, and with that you lose about 75% of your +21 crowd. you also lose access to a lot of venues (actually, pretty much all the good ones), it just doesn’t make sense to make so many compromises when the core audience at most shows is 21+ anyways.

anyways, I am all for all ages shows, it’s just rare that you can find a place to host one. I will definitely try to get something all ages put together soon though.

See, this is why I wish I lived somewhere amazing where amazing things happen. One of those places is not southeast Texas. If you were to show up in Houston, I think anyone who is anyone would have a brain aneurysm from sheer excitement. But maybe that’s just me?

I’ve wanted to see Eliot Lipp almost as bad as I’ve wanted to see Tycho.
But SF is too far away…who knows maybe someday I’ll see this happen again
wishful thinking

Eliot Lipp throws it down for sure…just imagine him and Tycho and Lusine and Michna and Deru…all in the same place…a little slice of heaven it is…

just got my ticket!

About time for an SF show Scott! I have been out here nearly two years and I missed one SF show and the Sac show and there has been nothing close since. It will be nice to be able to take a quick ride over from Market street. You have got to have love for the hometown crowd

truthfully i think its a great poster,

goes perfectly with the location (san francisco)

pays homage to the past and still has its foot firmly planted in the future/ present

Ahhhh, if you have any say in the matter, try to make the venue in LA one that isn’t 21+. It would be great to go up to LA for your show!

I feel for all you guys that are under 21…I’ve just made it past the milestone so I never have to worry about that again, but I know how frustrating it is not to be able to just see a show and not even want to drink. it’s weak. but Scott’s right about it completely cutting your audience in half or even more and that’s just unacceptable. I never respected that explanation at the time, but it’s the truth…just know there will be other shows and this isn’t the only chance you’ll get to see any of these guys. try hard enough and you will find the all age shows near your area at some point. I always did.

AWESOME. I’ll be coming down from Seattle for the San Fran show! Man, I have been waiting forever for a Tycho show and somehow overlooked the September one here in Seattle. So excited.

Gonna be coming up from LA to catch this SF installment. Super stoked. I’m still upset that I missed Terrabyte 3.0 and I have to make up for it. Can’t wait Scott!

Hey Scott,
Will you be coming down to Texas anytime soon? I might just have to tap into my life savings to attend the San Fran show:) Your music and art is truly inspirational and I can’t wait to see you live!

Scott,
I finally had the chance to see your performance live on Friday (Ghostly @ Mezzanine 3/6) and was COMPLETELY blown away. A couple of years ago you let me use some of your music in a short film and it was an honor to finally see live. Please please please play more SF shows. I’m not one for gushing to other dudes but for real man, that was INCREDIBLE. Thanks for doing what you do…
