Braun Atelier
Posted by Scott
Various shots of the late 80’s incarnation of Braun’s Atelier system in the wild. I don’t have much info on this, which seems to be the series 4, as all of the google results are in German. Perhaps someone can shed more light, translated page here. Absolutely love the TV monitor; that’s a work of art in itself.

January 6, 2012 at 12:03 pmFound this site on google image search. I’ve been trying so hard to get my hands on these (in white), but it’s not easy, especially in the US (SF). Braun released these in the US in the 80’s through the brand ADS in black only. I’m actually getting rid of one, but it’s not functional.
I believe there are 120v “Braun” versions too that are available, but I don’t know where those source from, probably either Japan or Canada.

January 6, 2012 at 1:00 pmAlso, not sure if this was obvious or not, but this set is designed by Dieter Rams who does most of the sexy Braun products. You should check out the Dieter Rams exhibition at the SFMOMA while it’s still going on. It ends on February 20th.

January 6, 2012 at 4:57 pmThe white Lotus Esprit miniature car matches perfectly with this set. I like the attention for that kind of details.

January 6, 2012 at 6:11 pmI love these complete Atelier HiFi systems by Braun. Excellent find on these photos.
The designer is Peter Hartwein. The TV is simply called the TV 3, the subwoofer is the LS 40 and the floor speakers are the LS 150. They are from 1984-1986. I believe they were only sold in Germany, but some of the Atelier gear was marketed in Canada as well.
