Clear Cut – Arovane’s Mix
Posted by Scott
This 2001 remix of Bomb The Bass & Lali Puna’s Clear Cut comes from the oft overlooked German IDM genius Uwe Zahn, better known as Arovane. If you haven’t heard of him, get Atol Scrap and enjoy the some of the finest electronic this side of the millennium.
Bomb The Bass & Lali Puna – Clear Cut (Arovane’s Mix)
[audio:cleacut.mp3]
The album covers pictured above have absolutely nothing to do with the song other than the fact that they are Lali Puna albums and since I probably won’t ever post any Lali Puna music here I figured this was my only shot at getting these nice designs up.

July 2, 2008 at 11:06 amOne of my all time favorite records is Arovane_Phonem: Aer (Valid) which came out in 2001 on Vertical Form.
I’m sad that neither of these geniuses are making music anymore…ssaaaadddddd :(

July 3, 2008 at 12:56 amYeah, i’m serious about hearing that, i’ll look into it, that would be a sad loss but it says on his myspace:
“2005 Tells the world he is having a break from making music.”

July 3, 2008 at 12:09 pmStrangely enough, the first time I saw your posters I immediatly thought of german music and Lali Puna was the first band in my mind.

July 3, 2008 at 2:53 pmWell actually the first time ever I got across one of the tycho’s tracks on last.fm it was because I was trying to listen music similar to LaliPuna. Last year I think I almost listened to “Scary World Theory” regularly once every 2 days, I couldn’t get enough… he he he! Nice covers anyway. Now I got caught in a similar loop with Chris Clark music.

July 3, 2008 at 3:03 pmPhonem – Currents (220v Offshore) on the Hydro Electric album. Get it. The 30sec previews available online don’t do it justice.
And AndresM is spot on. Arovane/Phonem – Valid Fard on the Aer (Valid) album is dreamy goodness.
I can’t leave out Crunch – Nullpluze.Nz on the MAS label… standout tracks such as Grama and Crumb.

July 8, 2008 at 3:37 amI love Lali Puna. Even the name is cool. My favourite track by these germans is “Faking the Books”.
Be sure to check out the remix album “I Thought I Was Over That”! It’s full of little wierd gems.

July 9, 2008 at 1:43 pmInteresting; I knew Uwe and his then-partner Martin when I lived in Berlin in 1996, and re-visited them again in 2000. I have this great memory of him standing in the dining room after coming home from a bar one night, dropping the needle on random sections of a Two Lone Swordsmen track and saying things like “ganz toll!” I still have the vinyl version of Atol Scrap he gave me at the time. I tried to encourage him to start taking his music online to get a bigger audience, but he was very resistant to the idea at the time. He and Martin split some time after that, and I’ve lost contact with them, but I would be very surprised if he took up motorcross racing; still, I guess anything is possible. Oh, and just for trivia’s sake; when I first met him he was much more into goth/industrial music, and one of his favorite bands was Deine Lakein.
