August 4, 2010 at 2:14 amThis is by no means intended to be a suck-up, but I’ve given Coastal Brake a lot of spins in the last few months, so I’d probably have to say that.
Damian Proctor says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:17 amThis is an easy answer.
Dusty Brown.
I just checked my iTunes and ‘Stevey Wonder’ is far and away my most played song :) I would love a pair of TMA-1 headphones so I could enjoy Dusty Brown at work as well as at home (and look awesome at the same time!)
Max says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:18 amfrom what i’ve heard here this year so far, i’d definitely go for Bonobo and his Black Sands.
And since last night, i’m very much into Matthew Dear.. Black City is more then worth the buy (sadly though, digital only at the moment).
Tajo Oja says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:22 amGot to be Salem – King Night. Can’t believe how heavy rotation this track has received over the last month. Truly inspirational.

August 4, 2010 at 2:30 amI never listened to the type of music posted on here until i started following the blog. To be completely honest my fav has been Tycho! i cant get enough of it! It was never the style I was into but something about it just sounds perfect. I have this website open most of the day (wile i am working anyway) playing though all the songs. Thank you for introducing me to a world I never knew!

song: Four tet – angel echoes (caribou remix)
artist: Bonobo with his “black sands”
Matt Appleby says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:33 amIt has to be Lusine and Gravity.
I love how unique this song is and the vocal! and the album is to die for ‘A Certain Distance’ :)
Dennis Zhao says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:35 amI really love Panda Bear.
:)
Emanuel says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:35 amI do enjoy the dreamy and airy music I can find in most of the playlists, but when I need something more energetic then it has to be the Ikons – Honey (Coyote Remix). It has the right amount of dance+electronic+a bit of mystery that makes it hard not to press the repeat button.
Jörg says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:37 amUmm, tough choice because of the insane amount of awesome bands/songs. At this time, i’d go for IKONS. Thanks Jakub for pointing out the label ‘Service’, some quality stuff on there.
Filip says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:39 amFor me it’s Computer Magic – Electronic Fences. I left the indie scene years ago, but I always get so happy when some of that stuff still moves me :)
Teddy says:

August 4, 2010 at 2:50 amI’m not really a fan of the music you guys post here, some things are pretty great but most are just not my thing.
I am however a *huge* fan of Tycho (I know that’s you Scott) and I just love that so I’ll cheat by saying that’s what I like since Coastal Brake is in the playlist :D
Totally not intending to kiss your ass, it’s just that it’s really the only thing that’s attracted me musically to the blog. Otherwise I’m just here for the design bits.
Headphones look pretty awesome, I’ve got a pair of AKG 272HDs myself and love’em but hell, another pair of awesome headphones is never a bad thing :D
chris says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:51 amhas to be ‘dusty brown – this city is killing me’, great track.
kd says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:55 amceo: come with me
song of the year for me.
Agent 57 says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:55 amIts Tycho, you producer of amazing landscapes you!
Your work took over from being my most listened to, after yppah’s first album. your music tunes straight in to my ear
I would use the headphones to play my first live set, im in much need after mine decided to break in 2 places at the same time
eydryan says:
August 4, 2010 at 2:58 amIf I may add something though, I feel that these headphones are a bit vapourware because any studio-class headphones should include a couple of diagrams of important stats such as a frequency response curve to actually see if there are areas where they perform less than perfect.
Still, they look great and they probably sound pretty good too. However from the video I take it they’re the modern kind of headphones with a boomy bass and shrieking hi-tones. I’m more of a classical man myself, I’m just crazy about mid-bass.
Lorenzo says:

I love the fact that they still exist under the radar.
My finger are crossed. Had my eye on the the TMA-1 development for a while now, ‘specially after seeing Flying Lotus wearing them
donato says:
August 4, 2010 at 3:34 amMa Halo – Sun Araw.
Which has totally sucked me into the worlds of Oneohtrix Point Never and Emeralds too.
Atlas says:
August 4, 2010 at 3:42 amAlways great new music here but it’s got to be Small Black – Despicable Dogs (Washed Out Mix) from the Ocean of Lips Mixtape. It’s so melancholic that I can’t help but ponder deep stuff.
>
Also, my head exploded when I found Dusty Brown – EP on itunes before it was mysteriously removed (Could someone explain that?) and then it exploded again when I discovered Tycho and once more when I found out that they were friends. Plus getting “This City is Killing Me” for free (if I had any money to donate, I would…) was a recent highlight in my musical life.
>
So I guess thanks for all the enlightenment…and those banana-phones. Just pop them in my box. I love you.
Gal says:
August 4, 2010 at 3:44 amI really (really) love Panda Bear.
Mario Kwshita says:
August 4, 2010 at 3:53 amCEO – Come With Me (06/30/10)
Bobby Chombo says:
August 4, 2010 at 3:54 amooh.. The Bonbo entry was definitely a winner for me, but I’ve been following him for years, so I’d probably have to go with Peter Kern’s Anaxagoras… That was a while ago, was that still this year?
James says:
August 4, 2010 at 3:54 amHello! These headphones look incredible. My favourite song (and now one of my favourite artists) that you’ve posted was LePetitPrince by Cubesato, which was the soundtrack to the Vanishing Point video Alex posted back in January. I also wish it was longer…!
Will Hurley says:
August 4, 2010 at 3:55 amBullion – Caroline, No
I listened to their/his/her mix quite a bit this year.

August 4, 2010 at 4:12 amMy favorite so far is Gold Panda’s You, the slow beat makes it work-friendly for me. :)
Cobus says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:13 amLorelei by Cocteau Twins popped up in one of your playlists this year. So old but so so hauntingly beautiful.
Chris says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:13 amFoxes in Fiction has been a great discovery for me this year, courtesy of the plug for “Swung from the Branches” back at the end of June. Wonderfully relaxing ambient that isn’t afraid to pick up the pace every now and then just to keep things interesting.
Hazim says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:15 amI have to go for Lindstorm & Christabelle – Lovesick (four tet remix) absolutely loving this joint, then again, there is so much dope music in this place that I can’t honestly say that this is the best. I just hit play and keep going through your collection over and over. Now imagine listening to these tracks in a TMA-1. NOW THAT’S, JUST ILL SON.
keep doing what y’all do. Loving the variety of tunes up in this place. Need a bit more of your high quality cheery pickin’ good funky Dub Step though, somethin’ to make my brain and feet bleed with da bass line.
Peace
torrans says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:20 amI really love “A Tear In My I” by Keep Shelly in Athens but i think it has to be Four Tet “Angle Echos”(Caribou remix) i’ve been listening to it so much recently and its great to hear in a club.
Brian Morsman says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:21 amMy favorite most surely has to be Oneohtrix Point Never – Zones Without People. It conjures up hazy memories of playing with Polaroid cameras and looking at old science books from the 60s and 70s.
Those headphones look incredible. It would be great not only to listen to their audio quality but also to wear such well-designed equipment. It makes them even more desireable that they were tweaked to the specifications of Ghostly artists!
janice thorp says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:22 amHard decision as there have been some fantastic aural delights and new discoveries posted…BUT i’m opting for the following:
Tame Impala
The main reason is the raw psychedelic-ness of the band…loved it and bought the albums.
Thanks for the great blog:-)
Renzo says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:25 amI’ll go for Ratatat : LP4,
’cause that record is a blast but I can’t help mentioning Four-Tet : There is Love in You (and all the remixes that the songs featured in the record have been able to spawn two for all angel echoes – Caribou rmx and same track Jon Hopkins rmx)
Cheers!

August 4, 2010 at 4:26 amAh! So much good music comes to me via this blog. But, I gotta say that my world has been rocked by Com Truise lately. Can’t stop listening.
Rockin.
Connor says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:35 amI wanted to say Oneohtrix because I love their name, but I just keep returning to Caribou after first hearing him here, so that gets my vote.
Keep up the good work!

August 4, 2010 at 4:44 amOdd Nosdam’s Up In Flames…lots of other great songs but this is one I was completely in the dark about

Cerulean is in my Top 10 of ’10 for sure!
JohnA says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:48 amBeach Fossils – Daydream. From probably the first or second playlist of 2010.
Dave Eunson says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:50 amDefinitely Memoryhouse’s ‘Lately’, beautiful track and great video too. Lush spacey vocals and rugged lo-fi production: delcicious.
Nick says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:57 amProbably Ratatat – Party with Children. I’ve been into Ratatat for quite awhile so it’s the obvious choice for me.
Laurence H says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:57 amThough not in the Ghostly family (you guys post too many good tracks to remember all of them) , I would say the one track I listened to that introduced me to one of my favorite albums this year is Radio Dept- Heaven’s on Fire, catchy and fun.
Tom says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:59 amBonobo!

August 4, 2010 at 4:59 amI listen indie rock (or generally rock) pretty much only from your blog posts. Thanks for introducing interesting stuff. The Sight Below Post Rock Era mix was huge.

August 4, 2010 at 5:03 amtom vek – I Ain´t saying my goodbyes, very good song!!
Damion Schweizer says:
August 4, 2010 at 5:07 amIt’s so hard to tell which one artist or song is my favorite. Your team and I have a lot of the same likes in music so more than half of the tracks you put up on your blog are bands that I like. Although if I have to choose one I’m going to have to go with Kings of Convenience and “Ms Cold”. It was on Playlist 5. Great track. His vocals suck you into the song and the sound is soothing and catchy to the ears. I have also been getting down to his other band The Whitest Boy Alive. Their album Rules has great tracks from beginning to end.
Gustaf says:
August 4, 2010 at 5:09 amI have to say, CEO – Come With Me
Perfect summer-tune.
Arthur says:
August 4, 2010 at 5:12 amEditors – In this light and on this evening !
Scott says:
August 4, 2010 at 5:13 amI have to go with Shigeto…I love the hip-hop influence–which I find tasteful and not overpowering–underlying the glitch. All of it is great to design to, even if I’m only designing newspaper ads and nothing terribly noteworthy! But even so, like most Ghostly music I’ve heard, it is very relaxing to sit back and chill to. Now, if only I had some super sweet headphones to do that with!
Christof says:
August 4, 2010 at 5:14 amI’m still diggin “I Ain’t Saying My Goodbyes” by Tom Vek.
Jason says:
August 4, 2010 at 5:14 amFunny, my favorite of the songs you’ve posted just appeared a few days ago. Surf’s Up is my favorite Beach Boys song. I don’t know how Brian Wilson did it, I guess it’s out of sheer genius that he’s able to conger up such vivid images of sea and surf and sand. The slow, lumbering, sleepy chorus, the coda breaking through the clouds and the tempered and patient verses, it’s as though the whole West Coast was born the day he wrote that song. I played Surf’s Up at least three times the day you posted it, it does a lot for the imagination of a Chicago boy. Thanks.

August 4, 2010 at 5:16 amProbably not typical choice but Mayer Hawthrone. I am not a big fan of electronic music, but learning much about it and the community from you guys, and MH music was great at the time.
Brandon Leedy says:
August 4, 2010 at 5:17 amOh man, my favorite artist I learned about here on ISO50… its probably a tie between MuxMool and Best Coast. I love them both for different reasons. Both their newest albums haven’t disappointed either!

August 4, 2010 at 6:01 amWhile I’ve made Jakub’s recommendations here part of my music diet, the post that pushed me over the edge was 5-13’s on Javelin and JDSY. It sent me in a tail spin of summer synth avant pop that I’ve yet to recover from. It’s inspired several mixtapes and now I’m trying to make some tunes of my own.. therefore I NEED these bad ass headphones. So I can create better sounds and get them featured in one of these post.
I can dream, right?

August 4, 2010 at 6:04 amI was so stoked when a week ago Jakub posted Ratatat’s “Cherry” saying it could be his favorite Ratatat track. I thought to myself, “…omg, samesies…” When I first heard that song a few years ago, I couldn’t take it off of repeat if I tried. Every time I listen to it, the great moment of release at 3:34 gets better and better.
Carlos says:
August 4, 2010 at 6:17 amI’ve heard some real hits this year but I have to say, Onra’s “Long Distance” was pretty life-changing for me.
I’ve just recently been exploring the 80’s revival that’s been happening, and it started with Washed Out’s “Feel It All Around”. Onra pushed it over the edge for me!
It even inspired me to start sampling and writing some ducking beats of my own. I picked up an Akai MPK49, a copy of Ableton, and began converting my vinyl to WAVs. It’s been an interesting learning experience, having played music in bands for many years but never venturing into the “sampling” realm.
Onra’s provided me with some great inspiration to look to! Thanks for that!

August 4, 2010 at 6:35 am“Intentions” from The Whitest Boy Alive has always been one of my favorite tracks. WBA is his best project, in my opinion; I love the synthy 80s feel that so many of the tracks have. It makes me feel like I am living in Miami beach 30 years ago, cruising slowly up the boulevard. Thanks for continually introducing me to some awesome music!

August 4, 2010 at 6:37 amA bit of a throwback but I gotta say – Van Dyke Parks. I always knew him as “the guy that helped write SMiLE”, but I had no idea he released music as a solo artist. Song Cycle really kind of floored me in way that most modern music hasn’t in a while. ISO50 is certainly an informative outlet for new and exciting modern music – but your respect and frequent homage to artists of the past certainly prove your credibility.

August 4, 2010 at 6:54 amBest Coast – Boyfriend. Your post was my first time hearing this band. So I looked them up, downloaded their album, fell in love with the album, and then saw them live at Pier 17 in nyc all within two weeks. It’s rare for me to not only discover an artist and fall in love with them in that time but to also see them live made it all so perfect. And they play at the Bowery Ballroom Later this year!

August 4, 2010 at 6:55 amMost of the play lists really just strike a chord with me and maybe it is lame to post something recent but I am going to go with Skream – Reflections. I think it stunned me that someone I associate with the wobble could make something so beautiful and like something I would play in one of my dj sets.

August 4, 2010 at 11:16 amI would have to say Tom Vek’s “I ain’t saying my goodbyes.”
As much as I love most of the music on this site, for a short while it felt like the music being posted was starting to become same-y, like it was just offbeat drums, wind chimes, a xylophone with a poor recording of wind blowing in the background.
Jakub posted the playlist on July 15th, and it was all great stuff, once Tom Vek started playing I knew everything was alright.

August 4, 2010 at 11:16 amFor me this comes down to a decision between Stars – He dreams he’s awake, and Slowdive – Slowdive (which was posted in that The Sound Below 40+min mix). I’ll have to give this one to Stars, because like you said when you posted about this song, it does have a very good tension build up and release; it gives me goosebumps. I couldn’t put Sun Kil Moon – Carry Me Ohio in because I just heard it yesterday so I don’t know if it will stay with me but right now I’m really diggin’ it.
Headphone giveaway? You’ve already given us so many gifts in the way of new and often very good music, it’s cheesy, but that’s how I feel anytime someone points me in the way of good music.

August 4, 2010 at 3:50 pmWell gee, that’s tough. But I’m gonna have to go with Mux Mool’s new album Skulltaste. The album evokes feelings of nostalgia, where I’d be up really late hopped up on soda and playing video games in the dark. Plus the art is really cool and the beats are very danceable.
Joaquim Marquès Nielsen says:
August 4, 2010 at 3:51 pmDefinitely the ISO50 Exclusive Slow Hands Mix! I downloaded it to my iPod straight away and brought it with me on a weekend trip to my moms house with my girlfriend. The house is located in the southern part of Denmark on the island called Fyn. We camped in a tent in the garden right by the water, and one morning I put on the mix on a small transportable speaker that my girlfriend built for me, and we just chilled and ate breakfast which my mom brought down to our tent. Words couldn’t describe how happy we were, so I’m glad that we had the mix :)

August 4, 2010 at 4:01 pmDefinitely a tough question to answer definitively, but I would have to say Caribou for artist.
Caribou creates almost a new niche in dance music and creates a feeling and energy that distinguishes himself amongst an immense sea of other artists. I had the opportunity to see Caribou live in Tempe recently and was very impressed how they presented the album in a live setting. The energy and music was spot on and surprised me in the best way.
Jonathan says:
August 4, 2010 at 4:07 pmShigeto or Four Tet. I can’t decide. Both are almost always on repeat while I’m working.
Cheers.

August 4, 2010 at 4:08 pmEasily: “Odessa” by Caribou. My favorite track for every road trip this summer, and I heard it here first. I’ll need those headphones to listen to it at my desk, once the road trips subside. :)

August 4, 2010 at 4:09 pmI really liked Jakub’s post on childhood memories. The photo of Jakub’s mother has a really innocent quality to it. My favorite ISO50 post ever. As to my favorite song/band, I don’t listen to the music posted, BUT I do remember listening to Enya the day I found out my grandpa died, that was a moment I’ll never forget.

August 4, 2010 at 4:57 pmThis was really difficult. I love just about everything posted on ISO50. I’d have to say Tame Impala. Innerspeaker is one of the best albums I’ve heard in a long time.
I agree with HAZIM, dubstep is often hit or miss with me, but I absolutely LOVE what hits. Jakub, your taste in dubstep is highly compatible with mine. Shigeto and Sepalcure just to name a few, hit hard for me.
On another note, might I recommend checking out DUNIAN. I’m sure it’s post-worthy. His EP is available for free download through his myspace.

August 4, 2010 at 5:33 pmThis is such a tough call, so many choice artists and tracks have been mentioned on this blog. In the end, I’d have to go with “You” by Gold Panda, that track has been on repeat in my house for months, and the EP as a whole gets tore through on a regular basis.
Runner up, “Costal Break”, such a stellar track. Tycho = Riding bike on a Summer day, sun on your face, feeling fine.

August 4, 2010 at 5:44 pmBeing a long time reader, I feel a bit silly mentioning something posted so recently, but I think I have to go with the recent fourtet+pandabear+caribou+starslinger post
Being an Animal Collective fan since Spirit… the prospect of new Panda Bear is delirious, especially couched as it is between a remix by Fourtet, and a remix of Fourtet, by old old favourite Caribou…!
Among all the music you post, it’s the unusual remixes that I get the least exposure to in my regular listening habits. Many thanks for bringing them into my life.
