Nitsche: Convair 880 Poster
Posted by Scott
Beautiful poster for the Convair 880 by one of my favorite designers, Erik Nitsche. Apparently $1,000 will score you one of these rare prints.

April 7, 2009 at 12:19 pmyeah, that’s a bit steep for an offset poster. But I suppose if you’re a collector it may be a good investment?

April 7, 2009 at 12:52 pmI wish big companies still commissioned posters like this. It would be so great to get paid well to design posters.

April 7, 2009 at 12:55 pmGotta remember that name. His pieces are really timeless – amazing, I thought he was a contemporary artist (I saved the cover for General Dyanmic’s 1959 Annual Report when you posted it, but forgot it was from 1959).

I especially love his General Dynamics and Classical album designs.

Thanks for the links guys. I enjoy more of is lab aesthetic stuff, if that even is a applicable term. Does anyone have any other references to this kind of design. Minimal, primarily white, light greys, slightly worn and labby.
Been trying to work on stuff like this for a while.

April 7, 2009 at 5:10 pmwhy have I never seen/heard of this guy? …living under a rock apparently.
I really like all of his stuff, especially this one and his other GD stuff.

April 7, 2009 at 5:19 pmI’ve never heard of him either though I feel like I’ve probably seen a lot of his work and never would have realized it was the same designer. He has quite a range.
My brother in law works at General Atomics. I should see if he knows anyone there who might want to commission some nice posters. Maybe Scott can do one to promote the Predator drone. :P
