Irwin McFadden

Ellen McFadden (aka Alki1) has the best design-related Flickr stream out there. Her husband, Irwin McFadden, did some amazing design during the 60’s and 70’s and Mrs. McFadden was kind enough to post up some examples on her Flickr. Bonus: Name that Bauhaus-eque font.

The typeface designed by Irwin McFadden himself is called New Museum.

The top image makes me want to go back to WSU (my alma mater) and scour the libraries for some more of his works.

Yeah, I’m always checking her stream on Flickr.

That first design is great! Something about it reminds me of Marber grid-era Penguin covers…

wow her flickr is a great resource, thanks for posting.

I have to agree with I.G., though; I feel most clients these days would not go for such stark design as McFadden’s.
