Hey all,
I was wondering if there is another font that is very similar to the ITC Avant Garde…I’m pretty sure there is yet I cannot remember it’s name…any help would be great
I was able to get Avant Garde for free a couple yrs ago, from a Deftones fan site, as its the font they used for much of White Pony, along with Ribbon for their traditional logo. I can’t find it anymore, I’ll have to check back at home if it’s still there…
I’ve downloaded multiple versions of Avant Garde, and none seem to have the last letters. It’s a real piss off. I even look in the character pallet and they only have some obscure linked letters…
Cheers to you Scott – thank you…with Illustrator and a little tweaking you could surely make the slants on existing fonts in the ITC Avant Garde too
:)

that’s your best bet. I’ve never owned the Alts set, I just do type > convert to shape in PS and tweak from there. it gives you a lot more control and usually ends up looking better…. and saves you $120.

December 3, 2007 at 1:24 amIt’s Herb Lubalin’s (ITC) Avant Garde with the Alt capital “A”.
Eg: https://blog.iso50.com/?p=111 In this example ligatures are used; they are not used in the EIF poster. More Info on Wikipedia >

December 3, 2007 at 3:32 amCentury Gothic is pretty close, and while not all that similar, Futura and Univers make for somewhat more refined alternatives.
