Todd Hido photography

Todd Hido’s photography grabbed me right from the first image I saw, it first reminded me of Nadav Kander and also Gregory Crewdson who shot that Yo La Tengo cover awhile back.

January 28, 2009 at 1:27 pmAlthough the atmosphere may be a delight, the room itself, carpet, and style are very repulsive in my opinion. That carpet makes me want to throw up.

January 28, 2009 at 1:38 pmReally cool photographs. They are indeed somehow cozy and homey with a sense of abandonment. They trigger back memories for me and an atmosphere of the past. I can remember sitting down as a kid on carpets like that and just exploring and rolling around. Those carpets are so comfy.
The second pic comes straight out of Scott’s universe I think.

January 28, 2009 at 4:36 pmI agree David…although gorgeous, within there is that carpet…you could puke on that thing and never know where.

January 28, 2009 at 5:00 pmThat carpet is hideous!
I do like the feel of both photographs. You don’t see that older style much nowadays…at least I don’t. A lot of photo work is falling around HDR and the over use of highpassing ;).

February 3, 2009 at 7:24 pmGregory Crewdson did not shoot that Yo La Tengo cover. The band used one of his images for the cover (it is not the full image btw). Still a mighty good record.
