The Chicago Tribune has posted a nice collection of old gadgetry. Yes, we do have all of this stuff now, but none of it looks this cool. My favorite is the inlaid computer keyboard, I’m trying to do something similar with some recording equipment my desk right now but somehow I doubt it will be that clean.

i’d literally kill for that turntable and the guys room thats on the computer is amazing. I can only imagine a huge model ship, a collection of fine leather bound books, and a string of unnecessary quickly replied micromanaging boss emails on the screen. The sad product design here is that it looks like the printer paper starts printing towards your fingers, how annoying would that be? i’d probably deal with it to have the desk though.

I love the future from the past. It’s so hopeful and optimistic. The upside is reality is way more useful and powerful, just without the super-clean lines.

All that stuff looks like taken from a vintage sci fi movie. I love it! In the 60’s and 70’s, not only the music was better. Hmm, the display in the third pic looks a bit like Apple’s Cinema Display, just a bit thicker, doesn’t it? :P

you should post pics of your cool keyboard solution when you do get around to it. It would be fun to see what more people have done to customize/cool-omize their work spaces.

I love the first pic of that awesome video phone. The monitor is classic. I like it’s round stand – sleek.

what you are talking about sounds like an electronic dude that was on the cover of a not so old back issue of WIRE, where he’s drinking tea next to his table with inlaid macs. it looks sick.
