2008 was a great year for music, so good that an honorable mention section is a must. Before I post my top 10 albums of 2008 here are 3 albums that didn’t make the list that should of if there was room.

The Presets – Apocalypso
Sébastien Tellier -Sexuality
Sébastien Grainger – Sébastien Grainger & Les Montagnes
Ladyhawke – Ladyhawke
Van She – V

#1 on my list would be Hercules & Love Affair, such a great album!!

(I know it’s a very hipsterish list but we’re talking 2008 here)

Can’t wait to see your list! :)

I’m a huge fan of Portishead, I think the live Roseland album is one of the best albums every recorded. I do like the Third but I sure miss the old Portishead and considering the state of music today, I’d definitely consider it one of the best albums of the year.

in no particular order.
Osborne – Ruling
Cut Copy – in Ghost Colours
Black Dog – Radio Scarecrow
Jamie Lidell – Jim
Hercules and love affair

Something about the new portishead seemed really baren, like the hype surpassed the substance. Im not sure I’m crazy about it.

I don’t get how listeners let the likes of Fleet Foxes & Band of Horses totally get away with ripping off My Morning Jacket in such an obvious manner. Does everyone have such a short memory? Does no one value originality? I just don’t get it.

If you’re going to replicate another band’s sound, at least have the courtesy to wait until they’re not around anymore or have moved on to other things.

Oh, and the Portishead album is amazing.

And Antony’s voice gets on my nerves like a motherfucker.
