American Outlier: A Walk Across America

Hey ya’ll!

I wanted to do a little shameless plug here for my new project/adventure I’m attempting. In March 2013, I’ll be heading to the east coast where I will dip my feet in the Atlantic and keep walking westward until my feet soak in the Pacific.

That’s right, I’m walking across America and I’m inviting people to follow my new blog as I journal, photograph and record my journey. And no, I’m not Forest Gump’ing.

I’ll also be doing exclusive posts here at ISO50 when I get the chance. One of my objectives is to interview local American artists and photograph them and their works. So if anyone who reads this blog knows an awesome artist of any discipline that’s along my route please contact me!

Check it out:

Sweet, you’re the perfect photographer for this trip. I can’t wait to see the photos, will you post them here or on your blog?

I was just wondering what photography gear you will be using? Will it be film to avoid battery loss etc? Or digital so you can get it online quickly?
What lenses? Sicks? Such a fascinating idea. Co-incidentally im reading ‘A walk in the woods’ by Bill Bryson at the moment and Im tossing up whether i should do a similar thing in Australia!

imjustwalkin.com Website for a guy that walked from New York to Oregon about 2 years ago. He has great tips on what to pack and how to carry it. He’s currently walking every walkable path in NYC (all 5 boroughs).

Met Tim at Milepost 21 on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal this morning.
Asked him what was pushing in his Burley Baby Carriage. “Where you headed I asked?” With a big proud grin, he replied, “Pacific Ocean”. Immediately I inherited his smile and energy. Made my day. Time for me to get my ass in gear and do what I love to dream about. Thanks, Tim. May the trail west be fruitful. 3/28/2013
