Probably my ‘Lost In Translation’ soundtrack. Some great originals by Kevin Shields, Brian Reitzel, and Squarepusher.

Plus that great show of Scarlett’s behind on the front vinyl!

Probably the crazy translucent smoke with black/pink splatter on my “Teams – Days Xff” vinyl. Matches the music perfectly.

Gotta say that my favorite colored vinyl is Zomby – Nothing. Everything is white, EVERYTHING….

oh wait, I also really like my copy of Adolescents, see thru orange

26

Melissa says:

I loved the gorgeous translucent blue of the Neon Indian Hex Girlfriend single. My second fave is the re-release of Sonic Youth’s Evol. Bubblegum pink with splotches of darker pink.

Siamese Dream – Smashing Pumpkins.
Its a beautiful red marble colour, looks amazing when its spinning.
Its also a great album.

Sun Kil Moon – Admiral Fell Promises, on white vinyl. It was released during December and I remember listening to it a lot during that snowy winter — now I cant help but want to listen to it every season when the mercury drops.

Clear, with blank label. Joy Division – Live at the Paradiso, Amsterdam (1980). Mmmmmm, limited to 500 pressings, too. So swell.

My emerald copy of Toro Y Moi’s Freaking Out. It may be my favorite record I own, period. Especially considering that I was lucky enough to have Chaz sign the cover.

Com Truise – Galatic Melt ORANGE! My favorite color! Not only that, but two of them. So so so good.

I have a couple of clear vinyls that look incredible when they’re playing. Though my absolute favourite is a black and white marble, it just looks mesmerizing when it’s working, it adds a whole other dimension to the ritual of playing records

49

Austin says:

January 14, 2013 at 8:39 pm

Black Moth Super Rainbow’s “Dandelion Gum” on pink with gold splatter vinyl. It’s what I’d imagine unicorn puke would look like on acid, which is pretty much a description of BMSR

Max says:

In the spirit of ISO50’s playlists of 4 songs, I’ll list my top 4 with number 1 being the winner.

1. Stereolab – Dots and Loops
Two colors. White and marbled blue. After 15 years I can still listen to the whole album anytime.

2. Beat Happening – You Turn Me On
Red Vinyl. Incredible record early to the lo-fi game.

3. Cal Tjader – Plays Afro-Cuban
Green Vinyl on Fantasy. You have to give credit to the Fantasy label when you bring up colored Vinyl. The two brothers that ran Fantasy also owned a plastic company and they were some of the first to use colored vinyl.

4. Com Truise – Galactic Melt
Neon Orange and great cover art. This would have been higher on the list if the original press had been orange vinyl, but alas, only the reissue.

63

lamp says:

January 14, 2013 at 9:11 pm

By far my favorite would be Harlem Shakes Technicolor Health! Beautiful graphic vinyl, but if that doesn’t count, I’d say BMSR’s new Cobra Juicy is quite pretty.

64

Chad Dryden says:

January 14, 2013 at 9:14 pm

Big fan of the Real Estate Reality 12-inch EP on Mexican Summer – clear vinyl overlaid with a beautiful rainbow burst. Very trippy to watch spinning on the turntable …

That I boughted? Pink/black/white splatter – Electric Circus’ Halloween. Great colours AND the best holiday!! But my favourite of all is the crazy rolling stones vinyl that my parents have. Crazy colours and splashes!!

68

Kevin Costello says:

I’ve always liked my Acid 4×4 double 10″ set. Clear red vinyl with assorted sm:)e logos on the centers. They look great spinning!

Hope to catch you in NYC again soon!

Jamie Blumenfeld says:

Actually bought myself? I’m the odd one out – BLACK. Pink Floyd’s 180g DSotM not only was my first “heavy” vinyl but a fantastic rendition of a seminal album.

77

lamp says:

January 14, 2013 at 9:42 pm

I’d definitely have to go with John Maus’ “A Collection of Rarities and Previously Unreleased Material” not because it’s really off the wall or anything, but because it’s the only color vinyl I own. That said I do like how it looks; bright, translucent pink. Sounds great too!

81

gpop says:

although there’s some pretty colours.. It’ll always be when I lost my waxinity to the black vinyl which goes by the name of Posion by Bel Biv Devoe

Grand Funk – We’re An American Band (Capitol Records, 1973)

The first colored vinyl I bought. It’s transparent yellow with a distinguished black label.

My favorite colored vinyl would be….
The Doors – Waiting For The Sun [Green edition]

The Doors always did great stuff with their Vinyls, always something special about every single release.

Hello Nasty, amber coloured vinyl looks the bomb!

That said, none of my coloured vinyl has seen a stylus or turntable ;) I buy a second copy for listening on either 180g black vinyl or standard.

103

Chris says:

January 15, 2013 at 1:45 am

I still like classic black the best. The semi recent Cake box set that came with a single of each song in a different color was my favorite use of non standard colors.

My favourite color vinyl has to be the first color vinyl I bought. High Violet by The National. Maybe it has to do that I got it for only 10$ after Roskilde festival in Denmark, great experience.

A copy of The Ramones ‘Road to Ruin’ from the 70s that my Dad gave me, sweet transparent yellow vinyl! It’s a little crackly these days, but that’s all part of the fun.

129

Evan DuBois says:

my favorite color vinyl that i’ve ever bought would have to be the Bonobo Black Sands Remixed vinyl, it was orange!

131

Dean Wheeler says:

An original pressing of The Flaming Lips’ “Clouds Taste Metallic.”

A wonderfully hard-to-find slab of transparent green that cost me an arm and a leg a few years back. And then they reissued it.

132

Joshua says:

Clear vinyl is the coolest: “Ex-Lives” by Every Time I Die. But I also love the bright blue of Memory Tapes’ “Seek Magic.”

I was so excited when Com Truise’s Cyanide Sisters was finally released on vinyl. I with the original cover art made it to the vinyl sleeve, but when I opened it up and learned the disc was ELECTRIC BLUE?!?! That was awesome.

Thanks Ghostly.

158

Austin says:

I prefer a nice heavyweight black vinyl, but my fav color one I have is probably a glow in the dark version of The Monster Mash! If only Halloween were everyday!

161

Tim says:

January 15, 2013 at 11:57 am

I rarely get colored vinyls, though I’d love for that to change.
I only have a single non-black vinyl, so it’d have to be that: my pre-order copy of Mixed Emotions by Tanlines. It’s a Tan streaked pressing, which I have to admit is somewhat amusing, since they’re TANlines.

163

Jason says:

January 15, 2013 at 12:17 pm

My first colored vinyl is also my most cherished. I bought a copy of Ian Dury’s “New Boots and Panties” on “buckskin” vinyl, which is really just goldish. They had to unlock the cabinet for me to get it. It cost an astronomical $17!

166

Andrew Lawrence says:

I have one that looks like superman ice cream. Sometimes I will put it on just to see the colors spin! That crystal ball vinyl is insane!

white, boc’s trans canada highway. most beautiful musical item i ever done see. there is now a scratch right through the first minute of dayvan cowboy. oo i wish it was still prime for listening.

also, i had a lend of nofx’s “the decline” cd. was a wicked transparent cd except for the centre illustration over the 18 minutes of track. wonder if it’s similar in vinyl, if it’s in vinyl at all!

Motörhead – Ace Of Spades is a very strange marbled brown.
Logan’s Sanctuary in pure white.

Both of these colors seem to reflect the material in the respective grooves quite nicely.

François Virot’s ‘Yes or No’. No crazy splatters or anything, but that particular shade of super-saturated light blue looks so good sitting on my deck.

I started collecting vinyls since 2011 only and never thought they could be colored or even transparent!

I saw many pictures of them (even had known they were made of unstandart materials like sort of iron or gold) and wondered to have one at least in my collecion. I also have to admit that even my country has poduced colored vinyls too but they were too rare and expensive at those times.

In my very first buy itself i ordered 3×12″ and 1×10″. One of them were Bibio – T.O.Y.S. EP at pink colored 12″. I was very shocked to see that because i havn’t knew what colour it was.

Later i bought some other vinyls but they were all the way black standart color. 1 year later i ordered Com Truise – Cyanide Sisters reissue EP at blue 12″.

I think both of them are my faved ever colored vinyls – they are quite bright and contains stanning tracks and i don’t even mind it’s just EPs )))

My favourite coloured vinyl is the new Lorn – Ask The Dust LP on Ninja Tune

http://ninjatune.net/release/lorn/ask-the-dust

(and I read somewhere each one is totally unique…not sure about that though)

Also I’m in love with my UNKLE Never Never Land Picture Discs by a graffiti artist from NY back in the 80’s…who’s name slips my mind right now.
