New Macbooks: It’s On
Posted by Scott
Looks like we’re on for Oct. 14th after all. It’s also pretty clear that most of the rumored upgrades to the Macbook and Macbook Pro lines are going to be a reality (glass trackpads etc.). What I’m really excited about is the possibility of 3GHz quad core and 8GB ram options for the Pro, this might be the first true desktop replacement I’ve seen that’s actually portable. And all this starts at $1799 (there goes that theory).

October 9, 2008 at 7:26 pmQuad core?! Holy moley, I hadn’t considered that. I’ve only had one dual-core machine and it was speedy gonzales! I sold it to buy a new MBP, at the beginning of the summer. I thought they’d be out by now, but hey – watcha gonna do??

October 10, 2008 at 7:37 amWow, i nearly bought a Macbook Pro last saturday after my laptop’s screen died. But the shop was closed already and I haven’t had time since to look into it. Right now I’m very thankful for the (normally dreaded) fact that there aren’t enough days in a week.

October 10, 2008 at 7:49 amDamn, I just bought one of the now older MBPs in August…either way, I’ve been thrilled with it’s power and ease-of-use. Just a pleasurable experience, as opposed to the frustrating one I’d always get with Windows-based PCs.

October 10, 2008 at 7:11 pm$1800??? where did you pick that up! i’m hoping and praying for that price!
and again the pictures of the macbookpro dont really add up. I could be wrong here, but is the second picture not just the macbookair? And the last one a bad photoshop job? Let’s hope so, none of them look macbookpro worthy…

October 10, 2008 at 7:14 pmscott, i think you posted earlier that one of the things keeping you tied to PCs was your music software.. i switched about a year back, an imac, and used bootcamp to set up Windows. best of both worlds- when i want to draw, i boot in to mac. when i want to game, Windows. if on mac and just want to ‘try something’ i launch the boot camp Windows, in a window, using Parallels. Even your sound would work out. TC

October 12, 2008 at 10:05 amOh great! I hope the other macbooks will soon get cheaper so I can buy the macbook pro without squirming at the money slipping away from my fingers. Wishful thinking perhaps? Oh well… I’ll get it one day sooner or later.
