Finley Quaye
Posted by Scott
I am not sure where I first heard this song, but I think it was on some old chillout compilation I had years back. I am always surprised when I play this for someone and they haven’t heard it yet; it seems like a song this good would be pretty well known. Anyways, a mellow classic in every respect.

October 9, 2008 at 2:11 amAhh I love that song! I didn’t recognize it by name at first, but I heard it a while ago in some surf video. (maybe “Thicker than Water”?) When he starts talking about “these sonic fruits” it’s amazing

October 9, 2008 at 6:56 amI also first heard this song and Finley, in general, on the Thicker than Water video. Great song, awesome video. I think they put the rather relaxing track over the part when Brad Gerlach and Bobby Martinez are surfing HUGE storm swell in Ireland… it was a very nice combo

October 9, 2008 at 7:04 amDude you are so right! I played this for a friend and he looked at my stereo as if this was a new song that just came out. I told him Finley Quaye has been out for a good minute. “Even After All” has a nice groove that gets me bobbing my head every time I hear it.

October 9, 2008 at 10:40 amLove this song! I first came across Finley after hearing “Ride On and Turn the People On” off the In God’s Hands surf video. “Your Love Gets Sweeter” has to be my favorite off that album. I wasn’t all too impressed with his Dice album, it lacked that happy mellow chill vibe that Maverick had.
*I heard that he was Tricky’s half-uncle but read somewhere that Tricky has denied any claims that Quaye is in any way related to him.
