I always laugh at Boards Of Canada comparisons, where do you personally draw the line? does this sound like them to you? I can hear someone thinking it about this song, I can smell the gears turning in their heads but in all honesty I think this track is one of more fresh sounding uses of vintage synths coming from “Beat Music”, a job well done by Mr. Young Montana?

I wish this Knxwledge track was #1 on the pop music charts.

Probably the most exciting producer that dabbles in house music and quickly pulls himself right out and just focuses on composition is CFCF. Lately, he really hasn’t touched on anything bright enough for the dancefloor but continually is coming up with the most enjoyable listens.

I’d have a lot more faith in the youth if it was just a bunch of Zach Christ’s making beats, with his latest remix he never makes it too complex for your brain to follow along. Thats really important to me these days because off beat textured percussive pulses are being pushed to their limits.

Wow, Young Montana sounds incredible. Thanks for the free download Tyler! I feel like BoC deserves the pedestal, mostly because they were seeming pioneers experimental electronica like this. Unless my knowledge is unsound…

ahh, this is probably going to sound pretentious…but….for those of us who were around & down when BOC wasn’t yet on warp it can be a bit of a sore spot. a good track is a good track, and if it does it for you, that’s all that matters at the end of the day…however…if you are going to bring it up then my thing is BOC has already done it, and done it better than everyone has tried to do it, and better than anyone could possibly even do, so unless you’re really bringing a tangibly fresh angle to it 15-20yrs after the fact you should probably work at getting your own shit. though i guess some people WANT to be compared to BOC. it’s cool to nick stuff, most everyone does it, and put a new twist on shit, that happens everywhere in art, but the emphasis should be on ‘new’, no?

Sounds like a Julia Kent sample in that CFCF tune. I actually quite liked the Knxwledge one despite usually not going for that stuff.

“Offbeat textured percussive pulses” – yummy.

As far as BoC goes, I always preferred Royksopp. And that Young Montana tune is fresh.

knxwledge is basically just “drake – over my dead body”. Its a good remix but i would say the original songs is one of the weaker ones on the album
