Muni Fast Pass

Its a shame that Seattle doesn’t have transportation passes as beautiful as these Muni Fast Passes from San Francisco. The muted colors and typography of these have really caught my eye.

These where amazing!

All the transportation passes we have here in Norway are really boring (the ones I’ve seen anyhow).

If I got stuff like this I would keep them in a collection after use too, which could make for small, but pherhaps great, marketing for the different public transport firms.

Charles, I had actually spaced the ORCA card, however I wish they’d gone with something more like these ticket passes. I do realize though that that will more than likely never happen.

@Kjell-Roger, check out that flickr link. Some places were collecting these and put them all over their walls—pretty awesome!

Too bad muni recently discontinued these and switched to the clipper system. I have a collection spanning a few years, pretty nice colors.

A big reason I’m sad about Clipper. Love the eco-friendly/convenience aspect but as a creative, I really enjoyed changing it up every month with fantastic color.

muted colors…? That color palette for the ’08 set has the subtlety of a fishhook to the eyeball. The ’86 set is pretty fresh though. I’ll take Univers over Condensed Helvetica any day o’ the week.

Found your blog while looking for collectors of old Muni Fastpasses. I consider The City my home town. I lived there for close to 30 years before leaving for the lands east of the Sierras.

Anyway, I’m looking for somebody who might be interested in my small collection of Fastpasses dated October 1974 – December 1975. ’75 was the year Muni started to use die-cutting to change the shape of them every month. Somewhere I have one of the very first Fastpasses, it might be the Oct. ’74 I need to look that up. Let me know if you have any interest.

Hey Eric,

I’d love to see images of them… If you have any, feel free to put the links here in the comments!
