Future Islands+Selebrities+Deastro+Pogo

Posted by Jakub

I’ve had this synth line from Future Islands in my head since I woke up, does it remind you of Arcade Fire at all, the overall sound of this song?

What does disco/synth pop do in the winter? well it doesn’t hibernate, I think this style of those genres is perfect all year around, hope to hear more from Selebrities.

Deastro is a pure ball of energy that might be untouchable at times, this song should be towering over pop for all the kids in the new youthful generations, way more interesting than Owl City, Harry Potter soundtracks, WIll Smith’s daughters new single or whatever kids listen to these days.

Nothing will ever beat Pogo’s track Alice in my mind, here is his new efforts, too much nostalgia going on here, makes me feel all mushy inside.

If you like Future Islands synth and you’re not familiar with J. Gerrit Welmers solo project, definitely check that out. Can’t say they remind me much of Arcade Fire, but then I am a massive Future Islands fan and not so much an Arcade Fire one.

I am reallllllly down for Future Islands. That cover is killer. I agree with Old Friend–not sensing the Arcade Fire, but they are fun anyhow.

Not a huge arcade fire fan, but I can sense a hint on this Future Islands track. Nonetheless, still an amazing track. Will definitely explore more about them. Thanks for sharing @JAKUB

Don’t get me wrong i’m not a Arcade Fire fan, to be honest I haven’t even heard the new record, I haven’t put any effort into looking for it to listen to it but I do know some old tracks like Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels), I guess it reminded me of that

This is a nice blog but I cannot undestand about what it is.
Really. Who are you? What can I do in this blog? What is it?
Can I download music? Just read posts? Gossip? DIY? Tutorial how to make a vintage sandwich?

Excellent post as always Jakub! It’s an odd coincidence, I spent like an hour last night checking out all of Pogo’s material. His contract with Disney just ended, so he’s free to work on his own again with a great new following.

Everyone should check out http://www.pogomix.net if you haven’t already, he’s a really insightful guy with a great blog. All his old works (or at least the ones not held hostage by Disney) are available for download.

P.S. – There should be a post on his the new pogo logo! Along with a refined site and visual identity, his new “space bunny” logo is ingenious. Take a look at it on his site, and if you don’t get it immediately, his explanation gives away its secret.

“does it remind you of Arcade Fire at all, the overall sound of this song? ”

Yes, the opening melody. From there, it thankfully never takes on the disjointed whiny feel of most Arcade Fire songs, thanks in a large part to the vocals. Instead it’s got good rhythm and a better singer. I will look for more from these guys. Thanks for sharing!

I read it, but imo too short the short one, and not clear, and too long the long one. Anyway the long one better the shorter one. My2cents.
The blog is cool, cool graphics, good job!
