Star Wars has nothing on this, costume / set design at it’s finest.
Still from Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Via FFFFOUND.

May 22, 2008 at 3:40 amThat’s so funny, I watched this movie a couple of days ago, and when I saw it, it struck me how well designed every set was. Anyway, I started working on a personal blog, and my first post would be stills from this movie.
Dammit, you beat me to it Scott :)

May 22, 2008 at 3:58 amYep, 2001 is one of the most visually beautiful flicks ever made. The short sequences of the shuttle traveling to the space station and the space station itself are simply breath taking. I have a huge folder of images from that movie on my HD that I draw constant inspiration from.

May 22, 2008 at 11:17 amvia FFFFOUND im assuming? I came across this on there a couple days ago, it’s funny because I’ve been thinking a lot recently about these images capturing the perception of the future from back in the 60s and 70s, its interesting to me. The Aliens movies have been on TV a lot, I think Alien and Aliens have a lot of interesting imagery (and typography in some scenes) as well. Only 2001 was and kind of still is the most realistic depiction of living in space I’ve ever seen.

May 22, 2008 at 1:27 pmI remember, sometime in the mid-seventies, sitting in my grandparents house watching 2001 on tv. I was a little kid, and it bent my mind…. awesome movie and yeah the soundtrack is great… Thus Spake Zarathustra is fantastic. Elvis used it as intro music in the 70s too

May 22, 2008 at 1:33 pmI finally saw this movie a few weeks back…I love the way the sparse dialog leaves room for a sort of visual ambiance. One of my favorites for sure.
