Amon Tobin ISAM

Posted by Scott

I’ve seen people working with these sort of projection setups before but I don’t think I’ve seen it executed on this level. This is ISAM, Amon Tobin’s new visuals system developed by Blasthaus, VSquared Labs, Vita Motus Design, Leviathan and others which was debuted at Mutek on June 1st, 2011. Simply breathtaking even on the web; I can’t imagine what it must have been like to experience this in person. Great video, but would have been nice to see an extended version with more of the development process although we do get a small peek into the behind the scenes.

.. by FAR the best show I’ve ever been too; been a huge fan of Amon Tobin for years and the ISAM experience was BIBLICAL! I was lucky to meet him a week before at the album’s artwork exhibition in London, and, wow! Chilled, down-to-earth, super-friendly guy; can’t say anything wrong about this absolute magician! Obviously.

Well, saying that, I’m really looking forward to the new Tycho (and the artwork), it’s been too long mate!
Cheers.

Saw him live about 8 years ago and it was a pretty amazing show visually but nothing like this.

Also looking forward to more Tycho. Great Job!

I pre-ordered the deluxe edition of Isam, and was not disappointed. Amon Tobin is a master of sounds, and I’m pretty bummed out that I didn’t see this live.

that is so sick, I wish he touched down in America. Seeing that would just be absolutely incredible. Even if his music wasn’t great (which it would be) the visuals alone would be worth the price of admission.

The ISAM performance was utterly incredible. I’ve played with projection mapping before but I’ve never witnessed it executed at such an astounding level before. I happened to meet an A/V Tech who works at The Roundhouse in London the week before the gig and he showed me around the set up afterwards, stunning achievement from the crew, it really sets a new benchmark for what is possible live. I think this will have to be learnt from and built on seeing as more and more artists are just staring at computers on stage nowadays.

After seeing this video and some others in the past month I’m super excited to see Amon Tobin at this year’s Moogfest. I don’t know if it will be the full show as shown in this video but if so I’m prepared to have my blind blown. By the way it would be so very cool for Tycho to be at Moogfest!

I saw it in London, it was nothing I’ve ever EVER seen before. Absolutely amazing, thanks for the post.
