Color Berlin

Posted by Alex

I’m headed to Tokyo again in May and I’m getting all psyched for bouncing around the city with my camera. I’ve been via-linking my way around photography blogs for inspiration and found Color Berlin, a cool photo set by Matthias Heiderich. They feel like paintings to me — probably due to the heavy saturation, and flat compositional style. I’ve only been to Berlin once, but I don’t remember seeing colors like this! Best keep my eyes open next time. More on his Flickr page.

I love that flat composition style! I’m really diggin’ the K and the bike compositions. I need to start exploring more with flat compositions in my photography. Thanks for the inspiration. I hope you get some nice shots in Tokyo!

If you’re going to be in Tokyo, be sure to visit the “Tokyo Sky Tree” the most ridiculous name for a transmission tower and a prime example of wasteful spending all for lure tourists (foreign and domestic) to Tokyo, which people go to anyway… It’ll be over 600m on completion and the construction site has become a fave for Tokyo photographers:

Alex, what type of Camera do you own? I just got a Canon 40D with a few extra lenses and love it so far.

@Tyler – I’ve got a Nikon D40 with an 18-200 and a fixed 50 prime. I’ve had it for a really long time now and have gotten used to it I guess. I would definitely like to upgrade, but I don’t want to do it unless I go all the way up into the 5DmkII land. So I’m pretty much waiting until I have $6K of liquid capital before I make any serious moves on another camera. Also would like to see if Nikon puts out anything intriguing anytime soon.

hmm… I live in Berlin and I don’t see colors like this either. I must be looking in the wrong places!
