Joaquim Nielsen: Connected Process

Our Danish friends Joaquim Marquès Nielsen and Anders Baden Nielsen have put together a very thorough and insightful process piece on the creation of the poster for the movie “Connected”. You can check it all out at Joaquim’s blog.

Sweet poster. I’d say it captures the vintage poster look they were going for really well. Love seeing the photoshop brushwork, too. Nice.

@ alex — Thanks man! Oh, I’ve just watched your music videos on YouTube. I had no idea that you played. Your cover versions are really really good. Sometimes I’m just blown away by the talent on this site…
@ Morten — I’m glad you like it. Actually my good friend Anders did all the layout of the type, so he really deserves credit for that.
@ drew — Thanks. Most of the illustration was actually created using Corel Painter. During this project I really learned Painter, and I can recommend it if you want to work with digital colors in a different way. The way colors blend in Painter is noticeably different from what you see in Photoshop.

Brilliant! It’s like German Expressionism mixed with a bit of a Fantastic Planet vibe. Is this going to be for sale?

sweet that the coloring and shading was done in Corel Painter…I have that program and I have always been so “ify” about it…it’s cool but it is kind of slow program and has a few bugs every once in a while, I dunno maybe I just have a bad copy…
awesome process and poster!
