You may remember the World of Logotypes book from this post. Well Eric Carl has graciously posted all of the pages from the book to his flickr. You can also download all the images in a handy Zip file directly from his blog. Thanks Eric, this is an invaluable resource. It would be great to see more people post out of print books; it’s really sad how inaccessible some of these old books have become.

Correction: As Eric pointed out in the comments, this is only about half of the book.

Some of the logos in that collection are so fantastic it makes me want to design again. Sadly, that won’t be happening anytime soon…but love to see archives like this show up. Makes you realize how cyclical some styles have been. Great post Scott.

  2. 2 Eric Says:

Yo! Enjoy them. One correction though- it is not the entire book, only about half of it. I don’t have access to the book anymore, and only scanned that much when I did.

  3. 3 Alex / HeadUp Says:

WOW, what a find dude! I love it, esp the way they are presented too. Some of these logos are timeless in style, you still see stuff like this all the time, even in more futuristic or abstract logotypes.

Awesome, that is some pure inspiration right there….

  4. 4 David Trujillo Says:

where do you find this stuff? I mean, are you actively looking for new stuff or how does ur search works? I would assume you have a hectic schedule, no?

Great Idea. After Scott’s previous post on this book, I picked up a much worn but complete copy of World of Logotypes: Vol. III [blue cover, pub. 1982] on eBay for about 25 bucks. If more than a few of you are interested, I can fire up the scanner… :)

Let me know, I’d love to share.

Scott speaks for all of us logophiles, I’d love to see it! I really want to get back into logo making so I can put together one of those awesome beautiful logo pages like the ones in these books.
