The third season of Layer Tennis starts today! I must say, today’s lineup is one of the best I’ve seen; this promises to be an exciting match for sure. Khoi Vinh, Design Director of The New York Times, will play against Nicholas Felton, designer, blogger and creator of the Feltron Annual Reports. Coincidentally, both competitors were part of the Creative Block post…hopefully they each will take their own advice and create something awesome.

Just a quick heads-up that I’ll be battling it out with Folkert & Atley from But Does It Float today at 12pm PST. I think our styles will make for an interesting match, and looking forward to keeping my undefeated (2-0) Layer Tennis record intact. Don’t miss it!

I’ll be participating in my second Layer Tennis match tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 6th (here is an archive of my first match). For the uninitiated, Layer Tennis is a live event where two designers volley a .PSD file back and forth, adding to the image each time and playing off their opponents work. All of this is commentated in real time by the event organizers — Coudal Partners — at the Layer Tennis site. This will be the season opener so the format will be a bit different. They’re calling it “Around The World” and this time there are ten players who each play in succession, based on their global location.
