Rolleiflex / TLR
Posted by Scott
FivePrime have a nice collection of Rolleiflex / TLR shots posted that really make me want to get back into film, medium format particularly. For the uninitiated, TLR stands for “twin lens reflex” and Rolleiflex has made some of the finest examples of these cameras over the years. For those with deep pockets, you can pick one up on the used market (and roll the dice) or score a new one for the tidy sum of $4500 (but then again, a Zeiss lens is included). Until digital can match the tone and range of shots like these, film will never die. Link

Man even the picture of the camera itself looks awesome…

crazy to see two of my own shots on here (audrey is the attractive underwear girl, and the two pajama girls were from an epic/drunken trip to the eccentric madonna inn, in san louis obispo).
the rollei is definitely the only thing i shoot other than polaroid. i finally picked it up 2 years ago (a rolleiflex 2.8f) after lusting after one for years. it’s being a little moody right now so i have to send it off for some tlc, but i’ll be stoked to have it back soon.
if you or anyone here ends up finding one in decent shape that just has a few tiny problems, harry fleenor is the man to send it to. used to work for rollei and knows their mechanics specifically like the back of his hand.

October 14, 2008 at 11:45 amGorgeous post. As big of a digital fiend as I am, film is totally where its at. If I had the sizable purse stuffing for it, I’d only shoot film.

It is a very beautiful collection of Rollei shots you’ve accumulated here, but shouldn’t you at least credit the person who took the shots, namely, me, two photos of which are mine (cleaner in shrine/girl with ukule) that you are using without permission?
