Real-For-Real Miniature Airport

Posted by Scott

Incredible, working model of an airport in miniature. Apparently this is called “real-for-real”, described by CDM as “photographing real-world things, making real things in miniature, and setting the real world into motion”. Second video has some nice making of shots. Can’t even imagine the hours that must have gone into this.

it’s kind of sad that so much skill, time, and energy went into making something so mundane. They should have made some futuristic fantasy thing or recreated something from the past.

@jivraj-
for sure, almost didn’t post because of the music, but muted and made it through and decided it was visually worth it. should have added a discalaimer…

FR-
I think there’s something beautiful about putting so this sort of work and craft into something seemingly mundane, in doing so you sort of transcend the subject. Eggelston’s stuff seems like a sort of related example, treating the everyday as extraordinary. https://blog.iso50.com/24820/william-eggleston/
