AM Gold+Soft Rock+Slow Jams – Part. I
Posted by Jakub
I know Beamer has a large vinyl collection and Scott here and there has sent me some Cream songs and they should be able to add to series with some depth. So, i thought adding some good old AM Gold in the mix since if you dig deep enough you can find great artwork from singles and 7 inches like this pre-70’s single of The Moody Blues.

Cool idea for a series. If you really want to slather it up, here are a couple I always think of in this vein (though they are from the latter half of the 70’s):
Ambrosia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op9FtWEllD4)
Bobby Caldwell (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUKoWmeZraE)
Interesting to ponder to what extent the 70’s CHR format was influenced by as opposed to influencing the music it was spinning. I suppose it was a little of both. But this slick, pre-MTV FM stuff has always been kind of interesting to me. What else does a better job of calming you down in the dentist’s chair?

Are you not a fan? i thought Firefall was a good pick up and Tin Man is impossible to hate. I know you have some heat to add

Thanks for the tracks, i’ll check them out, once we have a player on this site i think these kinda tracks will be a treat when they pop up among all the indie, electronic and rock.

September 1, 2008 at 10:12 pmThis puts me back in to the back seat of my mom’s blue Toyota Corolla every sunday sunset drive down the 805 back home to Chula Vista from my grandmother’s house in Del Mar. I never had a problem with it then and I don’t have a problem with it now! Music just can’t be made like this anymore and I’ll appreciate any genre or sound that you can say that about.
Also, my girlfriend Junia is shouting to tell you to add some Bread on the next list. She’s been playing this little 4-track mix all day!

September 6, 2008 at 4:26 pmAnyone have any idea what the “Nights in white satin” font is on the cover? I’d really like to use it, that “e” would be perfect for what I need.

I doubt it’s a font. Looks like hand-lettering to me for sure. Every letter is different, for one.
