Daft Punk x Tron
Posted by Scott
Daft Punk has a new song and, with their involvement in the Tron movie, have formed a pop-culture singularity, collapsing the space around themselves into a massive self-fulfilling prophecy. It’s all very fitting, incredible imagery and sound. They showed their scoring skills in Electroma, and this new song (which was scored for the film) along with the theme (second video) seem to take it to the next level.
Be sure to watch in HD: Derezzed | Tron Theme

October 27, 2010 at 3:14 amThis has me too excited. I couldn’t be disappointed even if, when it releases in December, Tron Legacy turned out to be nothing but two and a half hours of just Daft Punk tracks playing to a still image of them in those killer outfits.

October 27, 2010 at 4:11 amI’m as excited as anyone here over Daft Punk working on Tron Legacy, but it’s led to a raft of fakes. These two videos are from questionable sources. The “Derezzed” track was released as a 10-second sample on tronsoundtrack.com a few weeks ago, and has just been looped to create the video. The “Tron Theme” video uses the proof-of-concept footage from before filming began, along with a fan-made version of one of the tracks previewed at last year’s ComicCon. With so little time left before the official release, it’s a testament to the hype and excitement surrounding this film that people are bothering to create these fakes.

October 27, 2010 at 4:22 amYou guys ………..have lost the edge, I think. I know you’re probs not care what anyone says, what’s up with all the over load of music posts? You guys should create a new blog for that. Oh, but I’d already be on GvB.

Incorrect man, that trailer is legit. the same one can be found on the Disney youtube channel, it is more than a re-edit of the 20 second loop.

but i agree about the hype. I don’t know what i’m more excited about: the album or the movie. OR the pipe dream that there will be a daft punk tour to accompany the album!

October 27, 2010 at 7:30 amI am really looking forward to this one. I love that there is a simplicity to the computer world. Not like Transformers where there is a million little parts that do nothing on every bit of technology. This is streamlined, smooth and very Tron like. Daft Punk, can the world be any cooler than to have two full grown men who always dress as robots staring and themselves in a futuristic world of sound light and simplicity. I think we just hit the singularity.

October 27, 2010 at 8:13 amHaha yeah that looks pretty cool. That first still is awesome. I’m primed all the way up until it says “Disney 3D”. This movie would be way cooler if it said neither of those two things. Would rather it been Rated R.

If you want to exclude music posts just use this custom RSS feed. But just a heads up, 5 out of the 6 people who post on this blog are musicians and two of them run record labels. This is a music blog as much as it is anything else.

Info on HD embedding is here

Thanks for the link, updated to use the official url.
Connor-
As clint said, the Derezzed video is real. As for the other one, I could care less who made it, when that logo animates in at the end with the song going it’s fucking gold.

October 28, 2010 at 5:55 amI’m not in the music business, but if you are referring to scoring as in organizing and editing the music for the movie (like they did in Electroma) I don’t think Daft Punk is doing that work. IMDB currently only has them as the creators of the original music in the film, with a whole slew of other people for the music department.
